I'd guess because the default Internet Radio menu within SBS is independent of any accounts. i.e. You don't even need a MySB account. For RadioTime to have synced preset folders this requires an account, hence requiring an App installed on a MySB account. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72319 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

"Internet Radio" contains some, "My Apps" contains others, when you've found them from "App Guide", whilst manually entered stations are stored in Favorites or Playlists. All of these are completely different menu areas. Plugins for specific radio providers also create additional menus, usually within "Extras" or "Music Services", that has to be manually added to Home menu now. In addition, Radio Time can also be installed as an App. Haven't done so myself, but I wonder if the menus within that are the same as within "Internet Radio". ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Radiotime provides the comprehensive directory of stations and this is access through Local and World. Use "Search" to find a station rather than scrolling. The Apps are intended to provide a selection of most popular networks. stations - not every station. It is an attempt to keep menus manageable. You can always add your own station on Favorites and can also order them as you like. How stations are sorted is point of discussion - for example should BBC station be sorted alpha numerically as follows 1Xtra 5Live 6 Music BBC 7 Radio 1 Radio 2 Radio 3 Radio 4 -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72319 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Radio: stations & categories
Thanks, Toby But my question was meant to be more general: how does Squeezebox manage / update / maintain the directory of radio stations? I assume it is fed at present from one central server with 'manual' input. I think the radio is a fascinating implementation of networking techniques for a very consumer-oriented product - but its success depends on delivering up-to-date information content consistently. Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Radio: stations & categories
I'd suggest installing the App "Radio Feeds UK & Ireland". There are hundreds of stations, you can choose to sort alphabetically or by genre, and a search by name option. -- toby10 toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=72319 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
[SlimDevices: Radio] Internet Radio: stations & categories
How do these get extended and improved? They are incomplete - e.g. only 3 stations are listed in National Networks for the UK. And poorly organised - e.g. lists are not sorted alphabetically. Even the names of stations/channels don't match their 'real' names. Almost all the talk on this forum is from technical enthusiasts, but you must get this right to become a consumer product...
