I still use the SolarABC’s reference map, pulls the ASHRAE data. Good for the
US only.

Not record lows, but I have used this for years as the design low temperature
for string sizing.

They claim the data is outdated, but with climate change I feel safe that the
Extreme minimum temperature is likely to only go up 

Re: [RE-wrenches] Silfab

2023-08-22 Thread Nick A Lucchese via RE-wrenches
While it’s too early to gauge longevity on production output I was impressed
with the build quality and appearance. Additionally, their plastic stacking
assemblies for keeping them palletized until installation are the best I’ve
ever experienced. They line up easily if needing to re-stack, stay in place
once gravity is at play and easily detach with a flick of your shoe when
handling by yourself. Ultimately it’s a reasonable amount of extra plastic
waste to the landfill but better than a broken module. I know plastic aides
aren’t something to judge a module by but was pleasantly surprised to discover
that someone was looking out for the installer experience as well.

Re: [RE-wrenches] Silfab

Hi Howie,

We have installed probably 150 jobs with Silfab modules. First their
330W, then their 370 half cell modules and now their 400 watt modules.
We have had good experiences with them and there relatively inexpensive
for an A tier module. They manufacture them in Washington state and the
company is based in Canada. This helps fill our priorities of sourcing
products from North America as much as possible.
We have had two modules with issues. One being a module that dropped
out about mid day, and the second having a partial voltage reading.
I troubleshot both and found that Silfab was decent at responding with a
warranty credit for replacement through our supplier. I would say that,
overall, the value Silfab brings is quite high while also being decently
priced.
