I switched back to non-maximized, got a wde window, resized > it and the bug seems to be gone. I've had one program adamantly stick with a wiide window: The KDE3 applet for ripping CDs. It always came up with a window much wider than my laptop's 1280 screen width, and refused to let me resize it. The window was NOT maximized. That was running under KDE3. Hi. Using dual screen (set up by arandr/xrandr) with XFCE4 and debian wheezy, Rosegarden always open in the right screen (so not the main screen) when I start it. The logo appears on the main screen but the window in the second one (the right one). But the real problem is if I move the window to get it back to the main screen, the window size "exploze" to something like 100 measure! If I don't try that, but try to reduce it before, it's the same=>explose to 10mesure when I try reduce the window. The best solution I've found is to close up the window and restart rosegarden: it then appears always in the second window but now really reduce, so I can now move it to the main screen. See you.
