I think the confusion is the two modes. The link I originally sent: http://lists.bestpractical.com/pipermail/rt-devel/2006-September/008882.html is a fix for multiple lines provided on the command-line without invoking an editor. The item in the post below addresses multiple lines when using the editor (the -e). In that case, you just need to indent the lines after the first.
