[Samba] samba 3.0.33: Can't change computer names in a domain

2009-10-09 Thread Germán Bobr
Hello! I saw there is a lot of people with the same problem that mine,
but they are using recent versions of samba.

I am using 3.0.33 in a CentOS 5.3 server wich is supposed to be realy
stable and tested.

At server side, machine trust account gets renamed both in /etc/passwd
and in samba database.

But at client side, the windows box shows an error and keeps his old
name.

This is what smbd.log shows:

===

[Samba] Files loosing changes (Pipe broken error)

2009-08-07 Thread Germán Bobr
Hi, we are having some troubles at the office with the samba server.

Sometimes, when someone is working with a file in the server (I/e an
excel file) and save the changes, they doesnt save.

Excel doesnt show any error, so, i presume that client machine receives
an ok from the server.

But if you see the logs, you can find an error for each file lost:

 [2009/08/06 17:01:56, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_data(534)
read_data: read failure for 4 bytes to client 192.168.1.105. Error =
No existe ninguna ruta hasta el `host'
 [2009/08/06 17:01:56, 1] smbd/service.c:close_cnum(1230)

[2009/08/06 17:01:56, 0] lib/util_sock.c:send_smb(761)
Error writing 75 bytes to client. -1. (Tubería rota)
[2009/08/06 17:02:19, 0] lib/util_sock.c:read_data(534)
read_data: read failure for 4 bytes to client 192.168.1.108. Error =
No existe ninguna ruta hasta el `host'
[2009/08/06 17:02:19, 0] lib/util_sock.c:write_data(562)
write_data: write failure in writing to client 192.168.1.108. Error

[2009/08/06 17:02:19, 0] lib/util_sock.c:send_smb(761)
Error writing 75 bytes to client. -1. (Tubería rota)

There are not to many errors of this in the log, this is only an
ocassional issue.

>> [r...@server samba]# smbcontrol --version
>> Version 3.0.33-3.7.el5_3.1

Here the error strings in english:
"No existe ninguna ruta hasta el `host'" = "No route to host"
"Tubería rota = Pipe broken"

How can i prevent this errors?

Thank you!

Germán

I am doing exactly that.
Folder redirection, My Docs and desktop.

But i have some users that want to acces their files from their home
desktop computers.

At 128 kbps the remote access to the files is a hell.
And laptop users have to wait the sinchronization every time they
connect to the VPN. (Samba PDC will not allow an user to acces the
shares if it is not logged and sinched)

I hope this will be a better explanation :P
My english is not realy good.

Thanks to all

German

[Samba] A question about BDC's

2009-04-21 Thread Germán Bobr
Hi, i have a samba server as PDC in my office.
Now, some co-workers wants to access their files from outside.
Making a VPN does not work because my office has a crappy connection.

Is it possible to install a BDC in a datacenter for the remote people?

[Samba] A secondary domain controller for remote clients

2009-03-30 Thread Germán Bobr
Hello

I have a samba PDC in an office with folder redirection.
The people wants to access their files remotely, so i have set up a
simple
hamachi VPN.

The clients can connect and sinchronize their files, but its extremely
slow.

Is it posible to make a second samba server in a high speed datacenter
sinchronized with the office one?

Can anyone give me some info about how to do that?

Thank you
