You say that

I have tried to setup Samba version 2.2.5.0 on my RS6000 server. First I 
downloaded the new version from samba.org and it said that gcc -O failed.

If gcc failed then the binaries may not have been built. Did it build
/usr/local/bin/smbd ?

I couldn't get 2.2.5 from Bull to work either. However I downloaded gcc from
Bull and built 2.2.7a from the source and it was completely straightforward.

[Samba] Configuring Samba on Dynix

Title: Configuring Samba on Dynix





I'm trying to run ./configure on DYNIX/ptx 4.0 V4.4.5 i386


When I do I get a message about not being able to find test files. I've tried setting _SEQUENT_CC_ to -Wc,+abi-socket which has solved network type problems in the past but it still fails.

Can anyone help?
