Re: [Samba] can we map windows folder onto unix
Does anyone on this list know of any utilities that enables mapping windows folder onto Unix machine? I've accomplished a recent migration. I used smbfs to mount Windows shares. Then cp from /mnt/...windowsshares... to /home/users... It worked perfectly. :-) Is that an answer? In Debian environment, just apt-get smbfs, then update your /etc/fstab, putting line like: \\SERVER\usershare /mnt/server/usershare smbfs 0 0 # apt-cache search smbfs smbfs - mount and umount commands for the smbfs (for kernels >= than 2.2.x) -- Jean-Paul ARGUDO -- To unsubscribe from this list go to the following URL and read the instructions: http://lists.samba.org/mailman/listinfo/samba

Hi, look at apache for your web server http://www.apache.org To map windows dir to linux you need to share the directory and use smbmount (part of samba) Some docs to help you http://us1.samba.org/samba/docs/man/smbmount.8.html cheers - Kristyan Osborne IT Technician Longhill High School 01273 391672 -- Computers are like airconditioners: They stop working properly if you open windows.
