Re: Scala missing in the official repo(s)

2012-11-29 Thread Freak Trick
The developers at Scala themselves offer an RPM in the downloads section of the
official website, but it conflicts with the jline.jar file of the JVM. I have
never done/maintained packages. Let me check out some resources over the net
and see if I can make a useful one. If I can, I'd definately look to contribute
it.

Thanks!

Scala missing in the official repo(s)

2012-11-26 Thread Freak Trick
I was attempting to install Scala (the programming language). The query 'yum
search scala' on SL 6.3, did not return any positive results. Furthermore,
there are no packages in non-official repo(s) either. Is it even possible to
include Scala in the official repos. It is gaining in popularity and a package
may help many overcome the relatively cubersome process of installing manually.

Hmm... I removed syslinux itself and then I could do `yum update` successfully
with RPMForge on. However with new information in here, I will also disable
RPMForge to avoid future conflicts.

By the way, will not having syslinux result in any trouble? (I haven't
installed it again)

Syslinux is used usually when writing Linux Live MEDIA (e.g. to usb disks); if
you don't usually do this then you can probably live without it.

Error with 'irq_set_affinity_hint' while compiling compat-wireless

Ethernet Details:

Thanks Mr. Mark! Your reply helped. Although there was no package kmod-atl2 in
the elrepo, however installing kmod-atl1e from the same repo has enabled the
system to detect the ethernet.

Thanks, once again, for quick and effective response.

You might want to try the various atl drivers from ELrepo (elrepo.org).
They maintain current drivers for a lot of devices not generally
supported by TUV.  I think you'll want kmod-atl2.  If you find that none
of the ELrepo drivers work, it might be worth contacting them to get the
correct one built and added to the repository.

2012-07-10 Thread Freak Trick
Hi Phil,

As I noted in my earlier mail, the problem was resolved by installing atl1e
driver from elrepo. Also, before that I had already tried with atl1c but it did
not work.

Just in case if you do require (for curiosity or better solution) here is the
output from the command offered by yourself:

02:00.0 Ethernet controller Atheros Communications Inc. AR8151 v2.0
Gigabit Ethernet -rc0 Giga-byte Technology Device e000
03:01.0 Network controller Ralink corp. RT2500 Wireless 802.11bg -r01
Linksys WMP54G 2.0 PCI Adapter

Thanks for your reply!

I think the atl1c driver in kmod-compat-wireless might also support that
device, but first we really need to see the vendor:device ID pairing to
be able to advise further.

Please post the output from the following command (note this is on one
line):

for BUSID in $(/sbin/lspci | awk '{ IGNORECASE=1 } /net/ { print $1 }');
do /sbin/lspci -s $BUSID -m; /sbin/lspci -s $BUSID -n; done
