Cleaning James Existing Website in order to link it to a marketing website
Hi everyone, A few weeks ago you received my mock-up proposal for a promoting James website. The final aim is to link marketing website and existing website. This leads to the following proposal for existing website: https://rawgit.com/linagora/james-project/site-overview/site/index.html which: - improves James project presentation - is a more ergonomic website: gathering all the internal James Projects in a "James" part, adopt the same top bar menu in the whole website, clean and make coherent side menus for the different projects -update some parts - remove duplicates which will already appear in the marketing website (as the News part for instance) Now, it still remains to adopt a graphic charter similar to that chosen for marketing part... Thanks in advance for your feedbacks. Regards, -- Laura Royet - To unsubscribe, e-mail: server-dev-unsubscr...@james.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: server-dev-h...@james.apache.org

Mockup proposal for a promoting James website
Hi everyone, I have been working for a few weeks now on a promoting website for James. Today, I would like to share with you my proposal mockup : please see file attached in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/JAMES-1837 The aim is to have this page as the James website home page. In this way, a user interested by James (curious developers and network administrators for example) will directly access tofundamental information about the product and could try it thanks to the Getting Started part. He will also find quickly all the links to contact James Community. And what about the current James website? Actually, the marketing website menu bar contains the link "Documentation" leading to it. For your information, I am currently working on cleaning the existing website in order not to have duplicates with the marketing page and also in order to adopt the same graphic charter. Thanks in advance for your feedbacks. Regards, -- Laura Royet - To unsubscribe, e-mail: server-dev-unsubscr...@james.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: server-dev-h...@james.apache.org

Joining the James Community by Chat
Hi everyone, As I am currently working on the content of James website I need your point of view about its part presenting the James Community and particularly the way a person can join it. Do you think it is a good idea to add a new mean of communication that would be either an IRC or Gitter? This way would make certain exchanges more fluid (for example short exchanges), allowing every member of the community and every interested people in the project to discuss in a quicker and friendlier way than with the mailing list. Could you please complete the appropriate fields below: - HERE IS MY POINT OF VIEW: - I AGREE TO ADOPT IRC: - I AGREE TO ADOPT GITTER: - I AM AGAINST THIS NEW MEAN OF COMMUNICATION: Thank you. Re: AW: Marketing catch phrase for a promoting James website [unsigned]
Hello everybody, I would like to thank you for your answers. Here are your proposals and the ones I have added : *A*- "The Apache James Project is providing a modern, stable, secure and extendable Mail Server product running on the JVM. It promotes open standards and is built using standard components, mostly by Apache, and it is completely open source and free. You could just use it to integrate it into your own software or solution, or just run it as your mail server on Linux or Windows. Finally, it could be used as toolkit to configure your own unique Mail Service with minimal effort." -*Bernd Waibel* *B*- "Apache James is a highly scalable, customizable, Open Source email server. It is propelled by Java and promotes open standards." -*Michaël Bailly * *C*-**"The**Apache**James Project is a modern Mail Server product running on the JVM that promotes open standards. It's built from components so good that other projects integrate them too. Finally, it aims at being a toolkit to build your own unique Mail Service with minimal effort." -*Laura Royet* *D*- "The**Apache**James Project is a modern Mail Server product running on the JVM that promotes open standards." - *Laura Royet *(here we keep only the first sentence of the above proposal). *E*- "Emails at the heart of your business logic. James offers a rich set of modern and efficient components providing at the end a stable, secure and extendable Mail Server running on the JVM." -*Laura Royet* // //*F*-"An innovative toolkit to build your own Open Source Mail Server with minimal effort. James offers a rich set of modern and efficient components providing at the end a stable, secure and extendable Mail Server running on the JVM." -*Laura Royet* In*E & F* have two sentences : a short catchy marketing one and a longer descriptive one. Thanks in advance for your comments. Regards, Laura Le 13/09/2016 à 15:56, Bernd Waibel a écrit : Hello together, I may be not the specialist to find the marketing words, but just a few thoughts: My starting question is: What makes James different to other solutions? As I think, there are two "intended use" scenarios, or "aims": - Running James as a standalone Mail Server - Using James to integrate your own solution What I mean: One strength of James is to be "just another mail server". But also, it is a fine implementation framework, if you need mail handling, but do want to do more than that. Another part is the "feature" section, which is (in my opinion): - Open Source and free: as free beer, right! - Java based: If someone integrates his own java software, this is the right place to start. - It is Apache based: Most developers like apache software and their frameworks. - Running on Linux and Windows: many software is not able to do run on both platforms. - Stable: Yes, we running it 24x7. As this is an important questions for mail servers at all. - Secure, using state-of-the-art encryption standards: Meaning version 3. Security is important for mail administrators, so should be mentioned. As stated by Laura Royet: « The Apache James Project aims at providing a a modern Mail Server product running on the JVM that promotes open standards. It's built from components so good that other projects integrate them too. Finally, it aims at being a toolkit to build your own unique Mail Service with minimal effort. » What I would like to change "in wording": The word "aims" sounds to me like "want to, but just cannot reach". So maybe better use: "is" E.g: The Apache James Project is providing a modern, stable, secure and extendable Mail Server product running on the JVM. It promotes open standards and is built using standard components, mostly by Apache, and it is completely open source and free. You could just use it to integrate it into your own software or solution, or just run it as your mail server on Linux or Windows. Finally, it could be used as toolkit to configure your own unique Mail Service with minimal effort. Many thanks to Laura Royet! Hi everybody, I have just proposed a new logo for the logo contest. It is up to date with new Apache visual identity. I don’t know if anybody want to submit another logo, the process is pending for some time now. Could we just launch the vote now ? Marketing catch phrase for a promoting James website
Hi I am currently working on a promoting website for James, something that would look like http://mesos.apache.org/ or https://www.docker.com/ websites to make it easier for someone reaching james.apache.org to understand what he can do with it. I work closely with Antoine, Benoit, Matthieu & Raphael to make that happen in time for James 3.0. I would need your comment about the following marketing catch phrase I've found (this one is supposed to represent the first and most visible definition of James appearing on this website) : « The Apache James Project aims at providing a a modern Mail Server product running on the JVM that promotes open standards. It's built from components so good that other projects integrate them too. Finally, it aims at being a toolkit to build your own unique Mail Service with minimal effort. » Thanks in advance for your answer. Regards, Laura Royet
