The conductivity of the water makes a difference when making CS thus the end results will be different if the conductivity of the water is different when you start. In order to keep it more uniform you have to rinse every thing with distilled water 2-3 times. That pulls off any impurities in the glass left by plain tap water or anything that has come in contact with the glass. Try this if you have a TDS meter. Rinse the glass once with plain water then poor in distilled water and check it with the TDS meter. Do the same thing again and rinse 2-3 times with distilled water then check it with the meter. The distilled water has what I call a leaching action where it pickes up every little thing that is deposited in the glass.
