[RCSE] Winch Solenoids
Our club had a fly fly/annual picnic yesterday. We had installed dual solenoids on our winches and one of the winches failed with almost disastrous results. Both solenoids shorted out at the same time. The only thing that saved us was our cutoff switch. I always thought the odds of both solenoids failing at the time was very high, it's not, this was the first time we used the winch. We used Cole Hersee 24059 solenoids. I communicated with Tim McCann and will replace the solenoids with the Cole Hersee 24037 solenoids he recommends. Tim says that the 24059s are rated at 84 amps while the 24037 is rated at 750 amps. Re: [RCSE] Great Ideas
I think they were interpreting the rules to mean "safe to fly" even if the part wasn't detached from sailplane. A great example of someone interpreting the rules :^) RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Great Ideas
I've heard of contests where the ruling was if the canopy came loose and was still attached by a string or other device, you had to be willing to launch the sailplane that way or take a zero for the landing. > I then Goop the LED display to the inside of the canopy. A side benefit is that technically, even if the canopy departs the aircraft on launch/landing it remains tethered, thus allowing you to score on that round. [RCSE] Bubble Dancer
My hard drive crashed and burned and I lost the name and website of the person who sales the tailboom for the Bubble Dancer. Tailboom.com still says they are indefinitely out of stock. Can someone point me in the right direction? George MeyersWD6EQS Fresno, Ca RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
