Odd Coincidence

2002-07-01 Thread Chuck Walters

I recently purchased a Hemmens Porter from a member of this listserv (an
awesome gentleman, by the way) and while waiting very anxiously for it's
arrival, I did a little web surfing, looking for pictures of the Porter. I
was then reminded of a thread that popped up last February on this list that
ultimately disclosed that Yesteryear Toys had a web page that stated they
were going to release a Porter in late 2000. I called said company only
to find out the Porter was not going to be done at all.

Low and behold, I went back to that same site today and saw that the
verbiage had been changed and now stated delivery for late 2002. Again a
phone call was placed to Yesteryear. This time, I was told the project is
on hold. Please notice, since 10:00 AM this morning, the verbiage under the
picture has been change to, Production schedule has not been finalized. I
also asked point blank, Is the Porter based on Max Hemmens designs? and
was told yes it was. In fact, the picture they have posted on their website
is unmistakably a MH Porter clone. So, there is hope for those looking
for a MH Porter. When, is uncertain. They also did say, they were going to
start selling the Cheddar Samson very soon.

Here is the web address for the picture and verbiage:

Took a look at the Cheddar website, it has been revised since my
last visit. They are now listing 4 locos in their line. The tram engine
caught my eye, do any of the list members have any experiance with this
engine? It is listed as a kit.

Pinstriping

2002-07-01 Thread Paul Gamlin

I have just completed converting a Ruby to a British Quarry Loco. I would
like to Pinstripe it or Line it . Is there any Web pages or places to look
on how to do this .

Thanks
Paul Gamlin
