It's never possible to log in to Pidgin, as Pidgin is a just a client
that sends log in requests to a server. The server belongs to your
company, not to anyone associated with this public mailing list, or the
pidgin software. We can only guess what it is, and have absolutely no
control over it.

Standard response to the Oracle users whose misdirected problem reports
accounts for about 50% of the traffic on this list:

We are advised that people within the Oracle network can use
 for more information; for
outsiders, like us, it just redirects to the public home page.

Please explain to whoever should be supporting you why you went to the
wrong place, and suggest how they could fix that in future.

Hello,
A normal Pidgin Instance will eventually not show the Pidgin IM icon in
System Tray or Taskbar.
The only way to tell Pidgin is running is to run Task Manager which shows
Pidgin.exe *32.
However, I cannot invoke the Buddy list this way and If I double-click
Pidgin.exe, it says:

Another Instance is already running

I am running version Pidgin 2.10.7 (libpurple 2.10.7)

Any help is appreciated.

It looks like you have an incompatible zlib1.dll somewhere in your system
path (probably in \Windows\System32).
If that's what is going on, you're going to need to remove it from the
Path. There is the possibility that whichever badly packaged application
put it there will no longer be able to run.

There shouldn't be a zlib1.dll in \Windows\System32 - if there is one,
it should be deleted.

If that isn't where the problematic dll is, the solution may be to
remove the directory where it resides from the System Path.

How did you install pidgin?

Did you get an error during the installation process?

If there in no zlib1.dll at all, the installation isn't complete and
you will need to re-install pidgin.

Pidgin has terminated abnormally. There really isn't enough information
to say why, or even to know whether it has already been fixed. The
error messages would be typical of many/most crashes when running on
Microsoft Windows, so really don't tell one anything.

You need to tell us the version of everything relevant and what you need
to do to reproduce the failure, including the identity of the service
you were trying to access. Do not include real passwords, as this is a
public mailing list!

To stand much chance of getting a successful diagnosis, you will need to
follow the procedures in the Windows sections of
http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/TipsForBugReports.

If you are not using 2.7.9, you might also want to look at the release
notes for later versions. Also, have a look on the issue tracker for
recently reported crash bugs. If someone comes up with a more specific
suggestion, it will be based on their knowing that one of these is
particularly common.

pidgin does not use C++ thus this error is not coming from pidgin
directly, which means it either isn't coming from pidgin at all or is
coming from a pidgin plugin (which uses C++).

Do you have the pidgin facebook plugin installed?

What plugins do you have installed?

[Question #38546]: Error connection to MSN on pidgin, error on notification server

2008-07-08 Thread JvliusCaesar
New question #38546 on pidgin in ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+question/38546

Hello ppl!

I'm getting a weird weird error on pidgin.

Since yesterday it does not connect to MSN anymore
And aMSN doesn't either.

BUT if I log on windows, I can log on my account on the original MSN, I also
can log on sites like meboo, etc.

aMSN hangs and does not return any error, but pidgin returns Connection
errror on notification server. Unable to connect

NOTE: Does not seem to be a network issue, as if I log on this SAME MACHINE on
Windows XP I can connect on MSN.

Thanks in advance

 Thanks,

Run 'ldconfig' as root, then start Pidgin.
