Re: [OSM-talk] Terms of use compliance

2015-09-07 Thread Mike Thompson
SmugMug has responded. The gist of their response is that they are not
using OpenStreetMap, but rather MapQuest, and they give MapQuest credit. I
have forwarded the link on the OSM wiki that was provided by Ian.

Ian,

Thanks! I have emailed the site operator with a polite email pointing out
the requirement for crediting OpenStreetMap.

[OSM-talk] Terms of use compliance

2015-09-04 Thread Mike Thompson
I found this really neat site:
http://maps.smugmug.com/?feedType=geoAlbum=15273921_2ysNu

I am pretty sure that at least some of the data it uses are from OSM as I
added some of those trails and waterways. In any event I can't find where
they attribute OSM as their source. Before I make an attempt to contact the
website operator about the issue I wanted to make sure I wasn't just
missing something.

Yes, they are using the MapQuest OSM tiles (
http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/MapQuest#Tile_URLs).

A friendly reminder that they need to give OSM attribution would probably
get them to update their website.
