Re: [Talk-GB] For motorway travellers...

2012-01-02 Thread Ed Loach
As a driver with a young child, I'd love a satnav app with an
"emergency" button, so while telling you your planned route
normally, it is constantly recalculating "emergency" routes in
background so at the press of the button it tells you the route to
the nearest public toilet/services/layby (perhaps user selectable
options) and how long it should take.

[Talk-GB] For motorway travellers...

2012-01-02 Thread OJ W
The Good Pub Guide used to have a useful section for places that you
could get dinner as an alternative to motorway service stations. I
wondered if it was possible to do the same thing using OpenStreetMap
data. So KML available at
http://ojw.dev.openstreetmap.org/driving_pubs/ (data from September)
-- and if anyone wants to go on a spree of tagging other favourite
lunch-spots with food=yes then I can regenerate that page from time to
time.

Re: [Talk-GB] Changeset Reversal: ok, who broke Scotland?

2012-01-02 Thread Jack Challen
Hi Donald,

Thanks for that; I'd completely forgotten about coastlines being recalculated
far less often.

I'll see how it turns out.

cheers

Re: [Talk-GB] Changeset Reversal: ok, who broke Scotland?

2012-01-02 Thread Donald Noble
Jack,

Yes, it has been like this for about 2-3 weeks now, but I think it is
fixed (sort of). It has stopped flooding new tiles, and it only
affects the mapnik rendering now. I am pretty sure the osma renderer
was affected, but then "dried out" once the coastline was sorted. I
think it may be to do with how mapnik only recalculates coastlines
periodically (but don't quote me on this).

I looked previously and wasn't able to find a change set that broke
things (around Inverness), but did find one around Ardisier that was
correcting problems. I have just searched OWL, and these 2 might be
related to the issue - but I'm not sure at all.

[Talk-GB] Changeset Reversal: ok, who broke Scotland?

2012-01-02 Thread Jack Challen
Looking at the map around Inverness and in the Orkney Islandsit looks like the
coastline's been broken: Inverness and Kirkwall are both flooded according to
the map. This seems unlikely, even for rainy old Scotland. I don't have the
nous to fix this one myself I'm afraid, and I think it's been that way for a
while -- still struggling to find the changeset.

cheers
