Re: [talk-ph] Road segment alignment validation effort in Central Visayas
Great idea, Maning. We should do that! Off-hand, I think one of the things I'd love to see is integration of IODb [2] within the iD editor, to make it more convenient for casual mappers use it. While we don't expect them to make any high-precision offsets, there are just too many places where offsets are substantial (>10m) that "good enough" is still great if editors can align on intersections using both axis. Currently, Strava is the best third-party source for validating and adjusting offsets of publicly available imagery. Bing is still a great default layer, with good resolution and alignment in many areas, despite being a bit long in the tooth. I wish there are more orgs willing to share their telemetry data this way.. [talk-ph] Road segment alignment validation effort in Central Visayas
Hello everyone. We have completed the road alignment validation effort in Metro Manila [0] and will soon tackle the same concern in Central Visayas [1], initially prioritizing Metro Cebu. The offset adjustments created from the tasks are uploaded to the Imagery Offsets Database [2], which we strongly encourage all JOSM users to utilize, for consistency and convenience. If there are any questions, or concerns about the methodology or process, we would love to hear from you. You may also know more about our efforts elsewhere, and our team through our public wiki page [3]. Also, public Maptime! Manila sessions [4] are now hosted by PUP San Juan on the last Thursday of every month. We have other friends pitching in for moral and logistical support. Please join us if you're by our neck of the woods, and tell us about the projects you're working on, or maybe give us a hand in the projects our volunteers are undertaking. If that's too far from you, check out the #geofolks from Maptime! Diliman [5] who run their session on the same day.
