One would think ... There have been several bugs like that though, some people 
can reproduce them at will and others cannot.

I personally would never have been bothered by this except for the man on the 
forum; with my contact list it just wasn't that much of a bother. :)

Still cannot confirm.
Clicking on the scroll bar shows me the behaviour I expect on the list
itself.  The  indicator  on  the  scroll bar doesn't place itself on a
proportional  location,  but the address list itself just moves up and
down as I want.
I guess that with my 1700 contacts the problem should occur too

Try drawing the scroll bar down toward the bottom of you contact list then 
clicking it. It will jump the list upwards. There is a man on the forums with

I don't get that at all - but we agree something is wrong. Add yours to the bug 
tracker.

That's funny, indeed.
Beginning at the top drag the square of the scrollbar a little bit downwards. 
Clicking the square on the scroll bar afterwards makes the square to jump 
downwards. The jump size increases with every click.
