Not the most elegant way because of that potential clash, but it is in
practical terms what I want to achieve.

Actually, now I think of it that might not result in any clashes. All my
mail retrieval is done via Popfile, and since I am using it to do an SSL
connection to one of my POP servers, I have to set it not to do
concurrent sessions. That will mean that if both accounts try to connect
as the same time, they will simply be done serially.

That might work well.

True, that would simplify it.

Admittedly not very often, it is more the principle of trying to find
the neatest, simplest way of doing it. If there are too many steps that
have to be remembered, I will forget one when it is guaranteed to cause
maximum embarrassment!

Not perfect. Because I had to do some updating of the filters, namely
adding addresses to some. Turns out I now had to do that in two
places: The Incoming filters in the main/archive account, the Common
Read filters used by the other account.

The Read filters are deactivated now, and there is only one Common
filter in place. This copies each Incoming mail into the Inbox of the
main/archive account, marking the copy as read. I have to manually
refilter that Inbox now, but nevertheless, this is the best solution
solution so far. I need to maintain and update only the Incoming
filters in the main account.

Well, yes. But there are always addresses that don't filter correctly,
so you have to manually maintain the AB, too.

Whether your approach or mine is considered easier, may depend on the
individual user.

Just had an idea: Don't put the correct details for POP-checking into
Account / Transport. For example, key in a wrong password or a
non-existent POP server. This way, regular checking will fail while
sending will still work.

There's no need to create them manually, a couple of sub-filters that
add addresses to the business AB group would do just fine.

Need help for importing unicode UTF-8 characters set in TB3.

2005-04-23 Thread WilWilWil
Hello,

I've found that mails which are not well viewed in TB when they are HTML are
those which are encoded in unicode UTF-8.

I see in preferences that I can add a set.

Someone could help me to find the table UTF-8 (web link or sending me the set
by e-mail off-list), in the format of TB (XLT, XLAT ?) and say me how to import
it in TB ?

Thanks

Could set up two accounts in TB! with identical filters and server
details. Filter business mail to the folders of one, personal mail
to the folders of the other. Put templates for outgoing business
mail on one and outgoing personal mail on the other.

Could set both these accounts to periodic checking and combined
delivery. There might be an issue on the occasions both accounts
try at the same time but the incidence of this could be minimised
by only having one check on startup and by having one check, say
every 30 minutes and the other every 31 minutes (or whatever).

If Robin's setup is anything like mine in the office, that won't work.
I have many hundreds business contacts (some I communicate more often
with than others) and over a hundred filters and subfolders. Creating
AB entries for each contact would be a lot of additional work. In
fact, the AB in my office TB is completely empty. When I want to send
a new message, I go into the folder and select an address and use
"Send new message to this address". If the folder contains several
thousand messages (many do), TB's search function is very fast and
convenient. Takes me less time than adding each new address to the AB.

Gee, I actually wouldn't know how to organise my company email without
TB's superior filtering and search functionalities, and across several
accounts at that. Even though I have a legal home version of TB (using
it here), I bought an additional business version for the office, just
because it is worth it and I couldn't do my job without it.

Set up your template as a QuickTemplate, and then all you have to
change when you create a new subfolder is the default templates (which
you probably don't use anyway) to the QT.

I suppose your contacts are either business or private, not both, so
