You are right. It will not search the handles and include it in the
auto-completion. Perhaps you could propose it as a feature wish.

OK, I've just experienced one of the examples.

If I type in the first name or the first few letters of someone in my
address book and I type an extra, incorrect letter, I hit backspace to
erase it and wait. Nothing happens. I have to hit ctrl+ to get it doing
a match. However, if you hit backspace to to erase one or more
characters and then type at least one character the auto-completion will
work without having to hit ctrl+.
