F14 Question: AVerMedia AVerTV Volar Black HD/-A850 availability

2010-08-18 Thread Joachim Backes

Hi,

I have the impression that the DVBT-USB stick mentioned in the subject
line is not supported by F14. After plugging in, I got an error msg:
missing firmware file in /lib/firmware:

==
Aug 17 16:13:56 localhost kernel: dvb-usb: found a 'AverMedia AVerTV
Volar Black HD (A850)' in cold state, will try to load a firmware
Aug 17 16:13:56 localhost kernel: dvb-usb: did not find the firmware
file. (dvb-usb-af9015.fw) Please see linux/Documentation/dvb/ for more
details on firmware-problems.

==

So I copied dvb-usb-af9015.fw from some UBUNTU installation to
/lib/firmware, and I could watch digital TV with kaffeine.

So my question: would it be possible to support that stick in = F15
versions?

Kind regards

You filed a bug, the rest is up to the maintainer\and or upstream

I will take care of it today or tomorrow.

Thank you.

I think you are lost. Yes I knew that and don't care enough to enable
it. Just pointing out why I don't see it and therefore never paid it
much attention.

It was neither a flame or a rant. Calling you asshat would be a flame

As a point of reference, but perhaps not relevant here's the packaging
 Guidelines for conflicts:
 https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Conflicts

Summary: file conflicts are always a bug to be fixed and should be fixed
 ASAP.

Explicit Conflicts are almost always a bug to be fixed but leeway for
 fixing it exists.

kparal: How do we check available for selection? We can't crawl through
all the package lists to see whether a package is available for selection
 or not.

For the groups that you can pick during install (where you pick 'desktop'
or 'minimal' or whatever), simple - just do an install and try picking
 each.

For manual package selection, I'm told only packages listed in comps and
marked as 'visible' are available there. It should be trivial to generate
that list and compare it against the list of packages we find are
 conflicting.

 Greetings testers,

Thanks for all your attention and participation on the F-14 Alpha RC
validation test events, especially for Andre's leading of the events,
quite a mount of bugs were identified and fixed until RC4 was posted and
 finally meets Alpha Release Criteria[1].

As always, here I summarized the test result based on the tests in both
 test matrices:

Suggestion to avoid confusion for the future - separate the bug lists by
release (Alpha, Beta, Final) and into 'warn' and 'fail' groups? That way
it's more obvious when we encounter bugs during, say, Alpha testing,
which don't actually block Alpha release.

If this is too much work, just ignore it :)

2010-08-18 Thread Rodd Clarkson

in f13.
