Topband: TX5K - the showstopper
I was a bit on 30M, listening and waiting for the gud signal to call them and... I thought: "don't look the cluster, don't go to 160, will never work it!" :). What a shot! Absurd signal guys, right now, here, in the valley... sounds like a station from Canary Islands! IMHO, at these levels ( they have perfect balance between receiving and transmitting ) I don't think it is just a matter of propagation... Thanks Clipperton! Alessandro, IZ5MOQ _ Topband Reflector
Re: Topband: T6LG RX antenna
> Yes, T6LG hears really well. I congratulate Ilian, and Jose Carlos, too. In my opinion they has done a small masterpiece there: the noise level has been reduced, from S9+, to S2. Last week, I worked Ilian on top-notch, very easy, QSO. -- The noise, unfortunately, still the main problem for many. Sometimes, the signals (both) are on S9 for real but we can't succeed and this is sad. 73 Alessandro, IZ5MOQ _ Topband Reflector

Topband: the winter...
After a full summer spent on 160M, with great results... here we are, on the winter. Guys, do you know what I say? I think it was better (for me) in the summer, hee. Unfortunately between my mountains the situation sounds very difficult: a lot of traffic, a lot of people, a lot of operations... am a little bottled, a little too, hee. Note that on 160M am running with fullwave deltaloop ( recommended for my valley by I8UDB ), some tools to receive and... amplifier. Friends less equipped than me... work better than me because, of course, they have the so called "free space". ... So, so hard. ** Still not in log on PT0S and V84SMD... but I have not tried very much,WX was very bad over here. But... in the log for: HL5IVL; XP2I and (finally) Algeria 7X5NZ. So, not bad! See you... between the mountais! Alessandro, IZ5MOQ ___ Topband reflector - topband@contesting.com
Topband: the summer season continues
The summer season continues... and personally I'm 160M's increasingly fascinated. On my DXCC, 100 entities... to be almost finished, and am a little sorry to hear it :-) ... will be a new starting point, I think. This month, I worked three new one: VK6GX ( my top distance ), YE0M and the legendary Ross, 9M2AX. -- On Summer noise: I live in a small valley, quite far from the city, silent and dark. The base of my Inv.DeltaLoop sheering off the small river shore... so, silent place. ... But, these days, I am beginning to know the summer static crashes and so on: terrible! Yesterday evening, on ZS1REC, due to that very high static shock... dropped by the wayside. -- Anybody know if the AT1HQ and/or 9Y4HQ will operate on 160? See you there and GL to everybody on IARU. 73 Alessandro, IZ5MOQ ___ UR RST IS ... ... ..9 QSB QSB - hw? BK
Re: Topband: CQ WPX CW - 2012
Hello Bob, W7LR, all. a little ago, I received the confirmation, via LOTW, from JR5JAQ and then the confirmation, via EQSL, from the HK1NA team. So, the WPX, for me, went well! The propagation was good, but few callers all around. I worked about 100 stations. No contest this time, no log, just to my satisfaction. The 1st night, with the HK1NA, was a problem: strong signal, but maybe no RX-Ant to EU. QSO on 2nd night, ok. Good JR5JAQ signal, shortly after my sunset. Listened but without QSO: JT1CO and HS0ZEE. See you, maybe for the ALL ASIAN, in june.
