Re: Topband: Been off the air a bit
Hi there, Last night I found my antennas have survived the winds and storms of the last month and I made a 160M and an 80M Q! Felt good to be able to crutch my way to the shack and more better to find all was working perfectly. My thanks to all the folks who sent so many nice well wishes. I have at least 6 more months before I'll be in a fitted prosthesis but at least now I'm able to get back on the air. 73 & good DX, Gary KA1J _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
Re: Topband: Been off the air a bit
Thank you Rich, I am making good progress I just didn't realize it was going to take so long to get such a long slip in the OR would requiring specialized doctor. What I thought would be weeks turned out to be many months and I thought that I would be done with the surgical work over the winter and I would be now into the final stages of getting into a prosthetic. Instead it's been two weeks since the operation and another six more months to go. This is a rough time a year to be laid up. That's what I get for not doing my research first and knowing how long it would take schedule. All Sure am looking to being able to get downstairs easily so I can enjoy the radio again. 73, Gary KA1J > Glad to hear you are making good progress Looking forward to > having you back on TB! > > Rich K7ZV > > On Tue, April 18, 2017 2:03 pm, Gary Smith wrote: > > I've had to miss much of 160 this year. > > I've had a problem with my leg since a MD > > applied a tight cast back in 72. Topband: Been off the air a bit
Hey Gary, Sorry to read of your plight. Being a Topbander, I know you must be tough and will in time, find a way to get to the shack. Take care, Mike VE9AA Mike, Coreen & Corey Keswick Ridge, NB _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband

Topband: Been off the air a bit
I've had to miss much of 160 this year. I've had a problem with my leg since a MD applied a tight cast back in 72. It finally came full circle and I've had my right leg amputated 6" below the knee. The bugger is my radio is in the basement and the stairs are a bit too steep for me to feel comfortable going down on crutches and the rig has been off for awhile now. I'll be going downstairs a bit now that I have my strength built up with the crutches but its too late for much activity this spring, I'll be fitted with a temporary prosthesis sometime this summer and looking forward to getting back on 160 this coming fall. 73, Gary KA1J _ Topband Reflector Archives - http://www.contesting.com/_topband
