Re: Topband: good condx agn in DL
I took my 8 circle receiving array down two weeks ago before it got blown up by the summer lightning. It has been blown up 3 times in the past three summers despite fitting coaxial relays to protect the antenna inputs. So now I have learnt to bring the amplifier boxes inside before the lightning gets under way with a vengeance. 73 Mark N1UK On 23-May-21 11:29 AM, Roger Kennedy wrote: Yes, 160m DX conditions are often still quite good Andy . . . but as you say, very few stations coming on the band. Top Band just dies as we approach winter. For a change, it’s nice and quiet most nights now. Propagation to just about all DX is very poor. Even East Asia is weak and watery lately. There are a few stations on daily in NA, but they are mostly weak. It’s no longer worth getting out of bed on cold frosty mornings now. I’ll be moving to 80 m over winter, but checking on 160 m from time to time to time. 73, Luke VK3HJ. Hey topbanders, this morning the band in DL was very quiet again, first call was K2UA, following from VA1RST, K1KI, W1NT, N1PGA,WA8OLN, K3UL. Than a surprise, D2EB called me with a good 539 signal on my short HIZ RX antenna. I am every morning from 01:45z to 03:15z mostly on 1833khz. Please give me a call, topband season is the whole year :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smnWydiGai0 73 Andy DL8LAS www.dl8las.com www.swing-company-bigband.de/ www.uni-big-band-kiel.de/ _ Searchable Archives: http://www.contesting.com/_topband - Topband Reflector
