intro and a question.

2010-03-08 Thread Farhan Ahmed
Hello all,
I just joined the list and thought to introduce myself. This is Farhan, from
Pakistan. I am a very beginner at Linux and am currently running vinux on my
VMware workstation. If we do have blind people here, they might've known me
from some other lists. My question is that, I have voxin synth 2.7 and am
trying to install it on vinux alpha one. I have done everything right including
editing the speech.conf by removing the hash sign (#) before the addmoduled
IBM but nothing happens. I can't see the option for selecting the voxin IBM
neither in orca preferences/speech tab/speach dispatcher nor in speach
synthesizer. When Installing this voice, It gives a message, "unable to update
speech dispatcher"... or something like that. Could someone point me on
resolving this issue?
Your help on my problem is highly appreciated.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Farhan Ahmed.--

Re: Speakup on Juanty?

2009-03-08 Thread farhan
Hello, further to this question, can speakup be compiled on ubuntu
intrepid as modules?
I git cloned the latest speakup directory and followed the
instructions, everything seems to go well but when I modprobe
speakup_soft, it gives me an error that it can't be found.
thanks

A couple of questions.

2006-09-18 Thread Farhan
HI all, over the past couple days i've been playing with knot 3 on my laptop,
using orca I have a couple of questions.
How do I get to the gnome system tray?
I can reach the gnome pannels and gnome desktops by hitting control alt tab and
control alt right and left arrows respectivly, and when i use gaim it goes away
in the system tray, and i can't bring up the main window, is there an orca
configured hotkey to access the gnome tray?
Everything else i've figured out so far, some of the configuration dialogs are
a bit spotty like the update manager and synaptic but i just use the terminal
if I want to update any packages.
Thanks
 Farhan
