re: transfer of Gramps in Hardy Heron to Lucid Lynx
Ladies/Gents, Before clean install to Lucid Lynx on my PC, I recorded Gramps to CD with a view to putting it on Lucid Lynx. When I put the Cd in, the file comes under 'personal data' with the date the CD was recorded. The CD shows the name of "Gramps-desktop". Now, when I try the transfer to Lucid, the system tells me: "The application launcher "gramps.desktop" has not been marked as trusted. If you do not know the source of this file, launching it may be unsafe". Now Gramps was ok in Ubuntu 8.04, so I figure that the CD is 'safe'. As I feel I am still a nooby, I really would appreciate some guidance in this. Oh Yea, the Gramps in 8.04 was Gramps 2.2.1 and in Lucid is updated to Gramps 3.2.3-1. re: Canon Pixma MP520 printer driver
Hello all, Further regards the above, despite having tried several Canon Drivers from different sites, the printer will not print, only chases an empty page thru the printer. However, I have downloaded the German Turbo print free version and it works excellent, BUT it leaves their brand name in amongst what one is printing. ( their driver is only for trial and if one likes it, one has to pay Turboprint USD $30.00) for it). Again I ask , where is the problem ? Is it in Hardy Heron ? Or has Canon not kept up-to-date, or have they not been advised of the new Ubuntu 8.04 by Canonical ? Is it worthwhile to question Canonical in the UK about this ?? As I mentioned before, I had this printer working with a driver from Canon Asia in Dapper Drake. re: Canon Pixma Mp520 printer
Hello folks, When running Dapper Drake, I managed to download a driver for this printer. I got this last year from Canon Asia. Now when trying to print something now from the computer with Hardy Heron, the printer will run the paper thru at the 'print command, but does not print anything. What is the difference now ? Does it have something to do with the Canon updates to these drivers ?? The Driver Number from Canon Singapore as well as from Canon Australia is the same CNIJFILTER-common_2.80-1_i386.deb But the the Singapore driver was updated 17 April 2008 issue nbr 0100083403 The driver from Canon Australia was updated 29 Jan 2008 Same issue number. The printer works ok on WinXp side, but I prefer to stay on the Ubuntu side. The printer worked reasonably well on Dapper Drake, although there was not the benefit of a user manual that could be used in Ubuntu. I tried CUPS, but there seems to be no driver for Ubuntu there. Can anybody please, shed some light on this. ??Many thanks -- Anthony Joshua Brow <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- ubuntu-au mailing list ubuntu-au@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-au
