This bug was fixed in the package gdm - 2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5.2 --- gdm (2.30.2.is.2.30.0-0ubuntu5.2) lucid-proposed; urgency=low * Add 44_xsession-errors_symlink.patch: Don't rename .xsession-errors to .xsession-errors.old if the file is a symlink. The later code will truncate the file to zero anyway, so even in that case the file won't grow indefinitely. They are, but they need to be in the development release of Ubuntu so we have somewhere to backport from. I'd rather backport 0.8.15-1ubuntu1 from Maverick so there's a clean upgrade path. It's either that or backport 0.8.15-2ubuntu1 to both maverick and lucid.
