We can still use dh(1) for debhelper 7.old; it's just the uglier and less-intuitive form of dh(1). Patch to convert to that syntax attached. Thanks for everyone who helped with this. It is greatly appreciated, as I am using the plugin on a daily basis. I am not sure whether this is the correct place to mention this, but I noticed a very slight problem: the plugin uses gnome-open to view the compiled tex file in pdf, ps, etc. Unfortunately, gnome-open is not available in the standard ubuntu installation. It is not a big deal, because I immediately installed from the terminal, but it would be nice if it can be packed to install automatically.
