[Bug 124610] Re: Totem Movie Player crashes when opening movie file

2008-02-28 Thread unggnu
Btw. -i810 driver is deprecated since Gutsy and shouldn't be used
anymore if the -intel driver works fine. Afaik LinearAlloc, VideoRam or
CacheLine options aren't needed anymore. Btw. Xv can only be used by one
app but all other started video applications switch automatically back
to standard xorg video output at least for me. This works fine in Gutsy
so a recheck with a Gutsy Live CD should be enough. Maybe the xorg.conf
has to be regenerated.

Binary package hint: nspluginwrapper

Debian changelog's entries since latest Ubuntu one:

 nspluginwrapper (0.9.91.5-2) unstable; urgency=low

   * linux32 is now provided by util-linux, so remove runtime dep on
 linux32 (no longer installable)
   * Fix issues on SMP by initialising and using gthreads in glib
 - patch is 004_fix_threading.diff (Closes: #458584)
   * Enable 003_update_help_info.diff, which for some reason I forgot to
put into the quilt series file
   * Add a shlibs.local file for ia32-libs-gtk dep generation - in the
absence of a ia32-libs-gtk-dev package, this fixes the FTBFS
Thanks to Dan Callahan (Closes: #462198)

Remaining changes to be merged:

  * debian/control:
- Changed maintainer field to Ubuntu MOTU Developers
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
- Moved old maintainer to XSBC-Original-Maintainer: Rob Andrews
   [EMAIL PROTECTED]
- Removed ia32-libs-gtk from depends
- Changed Xs-Vcs-Bzr field to Xs-Vcs-Bzr:
  http://code.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-core-dev/nspluginwrapper/ubuntu
  * debian/control:
- Removed the linux32 dependency; the corresponding binary is
  provided by util-linux on Ubuntu.

[Bug 196553] [NEW] mythfilldatabase doesn't run by default

2008-02-28 Thread Ben Lings
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: mythtv

The default setting for the mythfilldatabase log file points to a
directory. However, mythfilldatabase won't run in this case. Could the
default setting be made to point to a suitable file location (eg.
/var/log/mythtv/mythfilldatabase.log)?

[Bug 196548] [NEW] e1000 not loaded anymore after kernel update to 2.6.20-16.33

2008-02-28 Thread knut
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu: 7.04
Package: linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic
Version: 2.6.20-16.33

After updating kernel from 2.6.20-16.32 to 2.6.20-16.33 the e1000 module is not
loaded at bootup anymore. Also loading manually does not help to make network
available. Behaviour still exists in 2.6.20-16.35.
Computer is a Dell Optiplex 755. I attached dmesg + lspci information.

[Bug 161123] Re: gnewsense installation crashed with exit code -11

2008-02-28 Thread Colin Watson
Please report Gnewsense bugs to Gnewsense, rather than to us. (They
should have changed the crash report URL.)

Exit code -11 is a segmentation fault. In this context, this is often
due to a faulty CD/DVD disk or drive. It may help to clean the CD/DVD,
to burn the CD/DVD at a lower speed, or to clean the CD/DVD drive lens
(cleaning kits are often available from electronics suppliers).

This can be reproduced - but not reliably.
It happens when I switch from a page having a flash movie to another page.

I have the flash version 9.0.115.0 installed.

[Bug 196538] [NEW] Preferences - Default Printer is useless

2008-02-28 Thread Mark Duncan
Public bug reported:

Running Hardy Alpha 5

Selecting a default printer under Preferences - Default Printer does
not do anything. Going to Administration - Printing shows that no
default printer has been set. Opening gedit and going to File - Print
doesn't reflect a default printer being said either (PDF and PX-A620
show in the printer list and neither is selected). If there is supposed
to be a difference between default printer in the two apps (Default
Printer and Printing), then it needs to be made clear (for example:
if Preferences - Default Printer only applies to the user, then it
needs to say that. If Administration - Printing applies system wide,
then it also needs to say that). If the default printer in Default
Printer and Printing should be the same, then what is the purpose of
Default Printer? It would just be redundant.

[Bug 160796] Re: dpkg: error processing console-setup caused installer crash on Edgy (=Ubiquity 1.2.5)

2008-02-28 Thread Colin Watson
I'm not familiar with nUbuntu, which you seem to be installing, and so
it's difficult for me to support this.

However, the problem here seems to be that console-setup isn't in the
read-only file system on the live CD, and so ubiquity has to install it
in a context where it isn't quite prepared to do so. In Hardy, this
should be fixed because ubiquity will instead queue it for installation
and install it when it actually is ready:

ubiquity (1.7.7) hardy; urgency=low

[...]
  [ Colin Watson ]
  * Prevent apt-install from installing packages directly unless
install_extras has been run (previously, it would do so once apt was
configured, which produced some confusing error messages).

[Bug 196560] [NEW] [gutsy] X crash (low graphics mode) when logging out and in several times consecutively

2008-02-28 Thread Pjotr12345
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

In Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10, completely up to date, I encounter a crash of X

Only the low graphics mode is on then. The only solution is a full

I disagree. It's a but insomuch as it's a regression in behaviour. If

a bug since it's no longer doing what it used to do. That is a
regression.

Maybe someone who knows, why this change was introduced, could mention

Probably just more of the sad dumbing down of the update tool that is

2008-02-28 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is either missing or
challenging to deal with as a .crash file. Please follow these
instuctions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be
dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch
nautilus and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on
the crash report you wish to submit.

I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more
efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 196242] Re: [Hardy] bulletproof xorg fails completely with mbp rev3

2008-02-28 Thread Ernesto Ruge
OK, it seems to be a bug with MBP or something which is build in MBP
(EFI?) because I have a MBP with nvidia graphics (nvidia 8600 GT in MBP
rev3, you should have rev2) and the same issue like you. I know that's
possible to install nvidia css drivers, but nv trivers also work in
gutsy, so it should be possible to get them working in hardy, too. And
that vesa completely fails is somehow ... bad. Something a linux newbie

[Bug 196562] [NEW] 'fax send' command works but doesn't terminate

2008-02-28 Thread Adam Funk
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: efax

The command `fax send 0123456 foo.ps` usually doesn't terminate after
successfully sending a fax and hanging up. (I verify that it has hung
up by pressing the speaker button on the phone and getting a dial-tone.
The faxes are going through.)

I end up having to use ps and kill -9 to stop the processes, then I have
to rm the lockfile manually (or else I have to do that before I try it
again).

On rare occasions, it does terminate after sending and hanging up and it
always (I think) terminates when it finishes unsuccessfully.

(I first reported this to Debian in 2004: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-
bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=270642 )

[Bug 118510] Re: network profiles problem

2008-02-28 Thread Pedro Villavicencio
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Hardy Heron. It would help us greatly if you could
test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of
Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at
http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

[Bug 196570] [NEW] crashes randomly when shuffling through songs

2008-02-28 Thread Dmitriy Zasyatkin
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rythmbox will just randomly crash when a new song starts playing. When
it crashes, any songs added to playlists in the current session are
removed.

I have shuffle turned on so I don't know which songs its crashing on and
can't try to reproduce the crash. The songs are on a FAT32 drive and the
drive is being shared. I have the Cover Art and DAAP Music Sharing
plugins enabled. I am using Ubuntu 7.10, and Rythmbox 0.11.2

I will be happy to provide you with additional details if needed.
Thanks.

[Bug 196568] [NEW] update to new 1.1.20 stable version

2008-02-28 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: dbus

Updating dbus in hardy to the new 1.1.20 stable version would be nice
since it fixes quite some issues.

The upstream notes mention this:

This is the next generation supported STABLE release of D-Bus. For all
intents and purposes this is the 1.2.0 release WITHOUT the planned
X11/MIT license change due to a couple of license holders who have yet
to respond. For the most part this license change is being pursued to
simplify licensing issues and fix a couple of licensing corner cases.
When this happens D-Bus will be released under the 1.2.0 version.

One of the gvfs hackers was also asking about it because he's getting
deprecated function warnings when using the current hardy version which
is fixed in the new version

[Bug 195805] Re: Keyboard stops responding in X

2008-02-28 Thread Makimoto
I'm experiencing the same problem on a Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo running
7.10, with the difference that for me it's PERMANENT. After login,
keyboard is gone. I'm writing this from a knoppix cd I had lying around.

This has happened on a fresh gutsy install. (Week long). Yesterday
(27th) Kbd simply stopped working.

As suggested in some threads at ubuntuforums.org you can keep pressing a
key and the key indeed appears repeated.

Here's the only thing that made sense to me from /var/log/messages

I anyone has any suggestions as to what to do to regain temporary kbd
control I would be eternally grateful.
