[Bug 1067876] [NEW] Missing Safely Remove Drive Option from Context-Menu
Public bug reported: In Ubuntu 12.04, I could right-click on my usb-external-harddrive's Unity-Task-Bar icon and select Safely Remove. Upon doing this, the icon would disappear and I would proceed in unplugging my external hard drive. However, since upgrading to Ubuntu 12.10, this option is no longer available in the context menus for external drives. Instead, all I see is Unmount, and after clicking Unmount the icon remains on the task-bar and no indication is given that would imply that the unmount occurred successfully. The intent of this report is to bring back the Safely Remove option which (by making the icon disappear after selected) indicates that you may now safely removal your USB external hard drive (by unplugging its usb connector). [Bug 1061073] Re: Desktop effects are slow and desktop corruption using mesa 9
Ok so I managed to get through my dependency woes. I figured out that there are two packages that are architecture agnostic and those .deb files are only on the i386 files so I got the kde-workspace and kde- workspace-data .deb files from there and all is now good. So now I have kde-workspace 4.9.0 and mesa 9.0 installed and I can verify that the desktop effects are still very slow. I haven't seen the rendering artifacts (the white lines as in the screenshot attached to this bug) however but those appear sporadically so I can't say for sure that they're gone or whether they just haven't appeared for me. [Bug 1067886] [NEW] xwit cannot de-iconify window
Public bug reported: The xwit command (from package xwit) provides a simple command-line interface for de-iconifying and raising an X window. However, it doesn't work for iconified windows in Unity. (It does work with other window managers, even Unity 2D.) xwit simply calls XMapRaised(3) on the specified window. Record this number. 3) Minimize the terminal window. 4) Open a second terminal window instance. Run xwit -id windowid Expected behavior: The minimized terminal window should be de-iconified and raised. Actual behavior: Nothing happens in Unity. (But this does work in Unity 2D and most others.) I see very similar issue, but with Core i7 Sandy Bridge, Intel HD Graphics 3000 built in, which makes me think - this is nothing to do with NVidia, but rather with Compiz. [Bug 873548] Re: Brother MFC 7440N printer is detected but will not print
Correction. I installed all over on another PC running Ubuntu 12.04. Here is what was needed to install the printer in my system: Follow #11 above (except that I do not need to --force-architecture since I user i86, not 64 bit) Add the printer to /etc/hosts, in my case the printer has static address 192.168.11.10: sudo gedit /etc/hosts add a line under 127.0.0.1LOCALHOST 192.168.11.10MFC.7440N Open the printer app, add a printer. Expand the Network printer, wait some time, and select the MFC-7440N Install, but when asked about manufacturer, select (O) Supply PPD file... Browser to /usr/share/cups/model, and select the file MFC7440.PPD Print a test page, Open printer properties, set the paper size (Letter is default, I use A4), go through other settings, such as toner save, resolution (1200 DPI) ... Works for me, and it's a great little printer, but this is a hassle! -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/873548 Title: Brother MFC 7440N printer is detected but will not print To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/873548/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
