Checking, YES this option was switched on. Switching it off restores the normal behaviour. So this bug can be closed. In 17.10 the switch wasn't on or the default seems to be changed. On my computers software update ignore locks in synaptic and dpkg too. It would be better to fix software update or to remove the dysfunctional function in both programs. If a user set a lock for reason, the system should not override it. Related to #1586468 Today while surfing firefox 56 crash and after restart ver 57 jumps to the screen. The firefox marked for hold version was updated without any warning and way to stop that. The chronic in synaptic shows the revert from last day and both packages at 57 including the lock that was set at the 56 version. Regression: If we have a packet management in ubuntu, all packages should be using that. All up- and downgrades should be visible in the chronic, but the secret upgrade is missing there. You can turn their color by selecting it with the pointer, but there is no right click menu for copy and CTRL-C does not work. LTS / 0.20.0 from yorba ppa Assumed function: Shotwell should be able to import photos and deal with larger amount of them by internal database. Expired function: Above 10k of photos the import from folder or update settled photo folder shotwell go into a deepfreeze. Means that the knight rider animation for input freeze up, harddisk stop searching and cpu load from shotwell turns to solid zero. The shotwell window can now be wiped with other program windows, started from within terminal there is no stop or crash response. Shotwell needs to be closed hard by taskmanager, nothing appears in the console. Got system upgrade to 15.04 (r23). No change of behaviour, 30% is last battery response after around 4 days, then the phone switches off hard without any warning. Cannot be booted again until it got power from the charger, at 10% it can be booted again. The gap between sudden death at 30% and first reboot on the charger at 10% is the bug. While the scan it is not able to play a 256kBit MP3, this results to empty buffers and stop motion. Playing while scan eat a lot of cpu cycles within banshee, after 20 minutes the scan is done 20k of files are in the list and the buffer underrun is gone. Expected: Banshee keep an eye on discovery and scan to prevent buffer empty situations. VLC does the same, try to scan full collection at startup and break the playback. A bigger play buffer, maybe a full track can prevent this. Okay the bios was updated to 3.21 and ecp to 1.06, for luck the battery seems to have the right security chip and is accepted by the new ecp. It did not appear when booting a live 14.04 LTS system on the machine. ThinkVantage buttons did nothing, not a laptop start, not at bios and not within ubuntu. I can try the cd method the next days. ThinkVantage did not work, because there is an SSD in the system and no more the original harddisk with the bios and recovery partitions. BUT the same bug occurs on my Ideapad S10-2. Set proper brightness when logged in, simply log out and log in again, while the desktop appear the backlight jumps to full power. The bios can only be lifted up to 3.17, if the machine got an original Lenovo battery for 150 bucks. So i can only point that this bug did not occur under 14.04 LTS. The system was reverted to Ubuntu Mate 15.04 now and show the same behaviour, screen brightness turns to highest or lowest at boot. After 3 hours of work to get an bartpe bootable windows for the bios updater Lenovo check up the battery before a bios update can be done, so i have to buy an original battery for 150 bucks first to perform such an update. With newer bios releases the laptop will also check for 3rd party batteries and 3rd party harddisks and ssd. So the ssd must also be replaced with an ultra expense lenovo branded model. Going back into my wlan the location service is able to switch to hamburg again. Congstar use the t-mobile.de APN, don't know if that is related for this bug. BQ aquaris ubuntu 14.10. (r21) patchlevel today There is no sync in the calendar-app and status-bar. Did a reboot full, removed the google account for full. When inserting it again, the calendar-app switch displays synchronisation fail, only the contact sync works for now. None events are displayed in status bar and calendar.app and no event set into the calendar-app syncs to google. Here action buttons appear on top and can be moved to the sides. The active action button have a white font and can be seen pretty clear. But the inactive action buttons appear in dark brown on black. The aquaris 4.5 have a light sensor, so the display brightness is turned down most of the time, so the buttons must be located with a torchlight. Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, AMD64
The installed thunderbird version was updated few days ago. Since this day i
got a warning that this is the last enigmail version, that will work with the
installed GnuPG 1.4.16.
If thunderbird get another update, the GnuPG for the 14.04 LTS must be updated
too.

This is mint17 xfce and show the same problem. 30 seconds stopped desktop, everything clicked are buffered and come up after this period. I'm amazed that this bug bug is carried through the releases from 12.10 up to 13.10 without fix. Now i have rollbacked linthesia to the 12.04 LTS package called linthesia_0.4.2-2ubuntu1_amd64.deb an yes it start very well. It does not matter which font is set in gconf-editor, this oldie package runs also mit clean. Have rollbacked 3 computers to mint 15 (ubuntu 13.04) and get rid of this bug, it's a 13.10 feature. So my suggestion is a rollback of the affected packages to the 13.04 state. Did 3 rollbacks here, all computers are on mint olivia 15 now, (ubuntu 13.04). On all computers i followed this instructions http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Brother/Drucker Everything runs fine, as it is possible to delete the printer and insert it as appsocket with driver search again. Maybe there is an API bug between cups and the brother packages or apparmor was changed, but in 13.04 it works perfect. There is no denied from apparmor in syslog. As there are no free drivers and ubuntu help points to the brother packages, this is a mess. There are many printers supported only by the brother packages. This gives me a good understanding, why mint tells to not update if everything is fine. It will rollback this machine today to get in functional again. Thanks god i have one laptop with mint (13.04) and i will not upgrade it to prevent this mess. Hello, had te same bug and the exec bugfix works fine for the sound applet. But have the same error with the bluetooth applet, what kind of bugfix is needed there? See attachment, same problem.
