Whoever implements this (IF), please bind the trigger to super key
release instead of press. that way other apps (Do/Synapse) can still
bind to it unlike Gnome-Shell.

[Bug 654115] [NEW] Does not connect to GTalk on wireless/mobile network

2010-10-03 Thread Owais Lone
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: empathy

Empathy is unable to connect to google talk whenever on a wireless
(Wifi/Mobile Broadband) connection. Works just fine for Ethernet.

Use empathy on ethernet and it works fine. Plug out the ethernet wire
and connect using a mobile broadband connection or wifi, google talk
starts showing network error.

I've encountered this problem on at least 3 laptops with 3 different
wifi connections.

[Bug 140918] Re: Adding stuff to autostart is too difficult

I suggest at least two ways,

1) Same as above, use the open-with dialog.
1) Make it possible to drop an application icon onto the app and make it
autostart. Dragging out would remove an app from auto-starting.

The new installer.

2010-08-12 Thread Owais Lone
I wonder what will the new installer install if I check the
install proprietary software.. Media codecs? Drivers?
A lot of my friends have the broadcom wifi in their laptops, the driver is
shipped with the Ubuntu CD. bcmwl-kernel-source.
Would be great to have it installed automatically if the hardware is
detected.

A Question about Quickly

2010-05-16 Thread Owais Lone
Hey there. Love you guys for the work you did in Lucid. Amazing.

So, here I am loving Ubuntu, checking out quickly. I really love quickly and
quickly-widgets.

My concern/question is that when someone uses quickly widgets, it makes his
quickly-done-cool-app depend on quickly.
Which in-turn depends on lots and lots of things. So my 100kb cool-app now
downloads megabytes with it.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that how it works?

I think widgets and prompts should be moved to a separate package or qucikly
should insert the code for the widgets to some module in the app itself.

May be something like this.

$ quickly add quickly-widget couch-grid

and the code for couch-grid sits in MY-COOL-APP.Widgets.

This way no app will depend on quickly itself.

  Ranjan,

You're off topic. Please consider creating a new thread for separate
questions. In Ubuntu the root account is inactive by default and all
administrative functions can be performed by using the 'sudo' command.

 e.g. # sudo vi /etc/configfile
[Asks for you password]: YourPassword (the one entered during
 installation).

If you need to activate the root account (not required but if you _must_),
 type
sudo passwd root to enter a new password for the root account.

 Regards,

 Ritesh
