[Bug 764195] Re: laptop screen blacklight brightness always at 100% (even on battery), can't be lowered
Unfortunately none of the above worked for me. I have been able to use the intel drivers for integrate graphics only by using the script from comment #7 http://piotr.gabryjeluk.pl/dev:ubuntu-11-04-natty-on-sony- vaio-sz640 This was necessary because nvidia drivers presence apparently breaks the 3d support from the intel. Also, when using the nvidia card I the 'additional drivers' kept insisting that the nvidia driver was installed, but not in use. Re: [Bug 275998] Re: audio recording very silent
I'm using a dell and didn't have this problem with 8.04 32-bit (now using 8.10 64-bit). Isn't pulse-audio in 8.04 to? Then downgrading might work (either ALSA and/or Pulse) to see which of them causes the problem. Somewhat strangly, an external mic does work - I cannot alter the input level correctly though and it is quite loud. On Fri, Dec 12, 2008 at 8:46 AM, Rocko rockoreq...@hotmail.com wrote: I tried BIOS A12 and it hasn't made any difference - alsa still didn't detect a digital capture volume control. I did, however, manage to make alsa-mixer show a digital volume capture control by copying the definition across from Hardy into the /etc/asound.state file, doing a sudo alsactl restore, and restarting alsa-utils. However, the control thus created has absolutely no effect on recording level. So it seems it is possible to fool alsa/pulseaudio into thinking there's a control even though it doesn't write changes correctly back to the sound card when you adjust the control. -- audio recording very silent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275998 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of a duplicate bug. -- audio recording very silent https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/275998 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Re: [Bug 223238] Re: Extremely slow Ajax/Javascript/CSS performance in Firefox 3 using non-free nvidia-glx-new
Sorry but I really resist the logic from Vadim Peretokin and others that the bug is nvidia's because it works well with ati. If a site works well in IE is it a bug in firefox if it doesn't work there? Surely something might need improvement in Nvidia's drivers. But lots and lots of people have these cards and if there's a browser that performs bad with lots and lots of people that just means there is something you need to fix. Re: [Bug 189814] Re: [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery
I can confirm Andrea's findings 100% it sums it up for me completely. Especially that there is no relation between inplugging / outplugging of the battery. On the side, my now 80% complete switch to mandriva to avoid this bug learned me that (k)ubuntu should drastically improve its kde integration... I any testing on a dell needs done I'm available with a D830. On Mon, Jun 9, 2008 at 2:54 PM, Andrea Ratto [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: still present with 2.6.24-19-generic. Here are my findings: 1 battery or not battery it happens 2 it starts when using again the touchpad after a period of inactivity. (Maybe on battery this period can be shorter) when it starts it freezes everything for some seconds, CPU usage get to 100% on all cores. At this point if you keep insisting on the touchpad you can really crash the machine. If you let go it usually just pass but you have to notice quickly. 3 sometimes the touchpad looses touchpad functionalities (eg scrolling on the right border). 4 dmesg entry psmouse.c: GlidePoint at isa0060/serio1/input0 lost synchronization, throwing N bytes away. not always shows. 5 many people are having this problem, someone also on fedora, someone since 2.6.15, mostly on dell laptops. I think I could get to reproduce it anytime I want, so I can produce any debug/crash information. [Bug 189814] Re: [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery
@Andrea, I'm pretty sure I don' t have this problem with Mandriva 2008.1 (kernel 2.6.24-?) So it might not be Ubuntu specific, It might also not be 'kernel general'. -- [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189814 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 189814] Re: [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery
Hi, a discussion started here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=4986873#post4986873 with people having similar problems on Dell D830. I don't have this problem related to plugging/unplugging just with leaving it for a few minutes. Example when playing music standalone cpu peaks and sound stutters for several seconds. This, however, happened too several times when playing video (flash or mplayer alike) while I was working in another window. -- [hardy]computer and touchpad is buggy when running on battery https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/189814 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 41955] Re: Normal user cannot share folders from home, even if authorised
Same here. To my shame I must say, I'm not even sure I updated. Maybe I just rebooted. Re: [Bug 102633] Re: gnome / xserver doesn't start from live cd
In 7.10 this is solved. In the mentioned laptop everything works but the mic-input (which has never worked with linux). I will never buy an ati card again - no matter how much they say they improve their drivers. I'm generally a forgiving person though.
