[Ubuntu-be] Request for promotional materials - BxLUG participation to the Wetenschap-expo-sciences 2007

2007-03-04 Thread Laurent Pirotte
Hi,

From the 3 to the 5 of may, the Jeunesses Scientifiques de Belgique asbl
Jeugd, Cultuur Wetenschap wzw will organise a scientific fair where
about 2000 young people from 5 to 25 years will expose various scientific
projects. They will be visited by their families, scolar groups, teachers,
researchers, scool directors public.

For more info about this event see http://www.jsb.be or http://www.jcweb.be/

At bxLUG, some people are thinking that's a fantastic opportunity to promote
the use of open-source software in the academic community but also in the
family sphere. We would like to present the ubuntu/kubuntu/edubuntu
distribution.

The JSB request that if we are present, our stand must be attractive é
interactive. In order to meet these requirement we are looking for :

- promotional material : posters, stickers, ... (the most important)
free
live cds
- people who can animate the stand during the fair (3-5 May, Brussels
Expo-Heysel Palis 3)
- hardware (about 5 to 10 PCs)

If you are interested to help us in any way, don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards

Annelies, do you think you can get the conference box ready for this
event? Please also take note that we have a 140€ budget if you need to
buy anything.

I am working those days, but some ubuntu-be.org volunteers will
certainly be available. Contacting the list was a good first step. For
more help finding ubuntu-be.org volunteers, please contact me again
this time next week. I'm in the middle of work on VLOD
(http://vlod.be) work right now.

The event is bilingual, and we have succeeded in getting officially
invited by the JSB, the main organizers.

The Bxlug is mainly French speaking, and the JSB would really, as we
from Bxlug, appreiciate if our Dutch speaking friends of ubuntu-be
would help and come along to man the booth and give some talks.

Please write down some summary of the VLOD and gather some good ideas
as the public we want to reach during the Wetenschap-Exposcience will
be : students and their parents, but also teachers (especially
sciences teachers)

I have created and edited https://wiki.ubuntu.com/BelgianTeam/WEXS_2007
(based on the VLOD_2007 page)

Thanks

I forgot to add that as of today (March 3 2007) more than 1300
students for 250 projects have registered for the fair.

An idea, as they represent active students, usually interested in
technology too, would be to consider to offer, as present 1 CD per
project.
