isso se aplica ao win98?
estou com um dilema. o win98/netescape 9 é muito, muito, mais rapido para
navegar na web que qualquer outra
config com OS modernos e quero usa-lo no vmplayer sob ubuntu 6 por questoes
de segurança e porque nao consegui configurar
o audio mesmo depois de instalado o driver (nao tenho problemas no ubuntu)
mas quando tento instala-lo, diz que tenho que criar uma particao quando
o hd ja esta formatado em fat32 para win (4 gb) e possui mais tres partições
para linux (2 reiser fs - 1 ext 3 ubuntu - ext 3 /home e swap).
tentei colocar a vm tanto na partição win como na /home e quando tento
transferir a parta win98 acusa falta de espaço. c tento formatar apartir na
instalação do sistema o comando format c: nao funfa.

A solução funcionou perfeitamente.

Só um porém. O Windows instalado dentro do linux via vmware roda nas
otimizações de disco que fiz, portanto é mais rápido que o nativo em NTFS 3g

Dá a seguinte mensagem:

"Unable to find an appropriate host video mode.
Adding the guest mode to the 'display' subsection of the 'screen' section of
your /etc/X11/XF86Config and restarting X is likely to help.

Caros.


Com relação ao GRUB, funciona sem problemas com VMware em partição real. Já
usei antes. O detalhe é que na hora de escolher o o disco real na
configuração do VMware, "precisa selecionar o disco inteiro onde está o
windows", e não apenas a partição do windows. Outra coisa, evite montar ou
modificar qualquer dado na partição do windows através do linux quando
estiver rodando a máquina virtualmente.

Cara, eu USO dual-boot Windows XP e Ubuntu, uso o Grub e TAMBÉM uso a
instalação real do Windows virtualizada dentro do VMware no Ubuntu.
Funciona com certeza! ;)

Eu me recusaria a ter o Windows instalado na máquina e instala-lo
NOVAMENTE numa máquina virtual.

Eu uso o Windows instalado em uma partição real também virtualizado
dentro do Ubuntu. O procedimento não é complexo, basta você criar dois
profiles de hardware no Windows (um real e outro pro VMware) e no
VMware Server do Ubuntu pedir para ele usar a partição real ao invés
de um disco virtual.

No primeiro boot vai dar a tela azul que você falou mas basta editar
na mão o arquivo de configuração da máquina virtual, alterando o
driver SCSI pra IDE e pronto.

Eu comecei a escrever um passo-a-passo sobre isso, vou terminar e
publicar no meu blog. Colo o endereço aqui para vocês.

Se não me engano, no procedimento de criação de uma nova Máquina Virtual
pode-se escolher isso, bastando escolher usar um disco físico em vez de
criar um disco virtual.
