[Bug 35112] Re: MP3 track times are incorrect
I'm seeing this bug with 6.06.1 LTS. Track times are incorrect in Rhythmbox, Serpentine and Cowbell. The first 2 showed exactly the same "way off" duration, but Cowbell was only a little off. I think I understand this better now... I built a new server today and running the same script I get: Python 2.4.3 (#2, Apr 27 2006, 14:43:58) [GCC 4.0.3 (Ubuntu 4.0.3-1ubuntu5)] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import socket >>> print socket.getfqdn() mailout02.controlledmail.com or to get back to the original report: $ hostname -f mailout02.controlledmail.com As you can see, it works just fine. The difference (this is the first time out of 4 machines, all Dapper fresh installs all using the text mode installer) I believe is that this time I had the reverse DNS PTR record set in advance. When setting up networking the installer offered mailout02 as the hostname and then clearly picked up the rest of the FQDN from the IP address' PTR record. [Bug 56765] suspend2ram doesn't resume
Public bug reported: With kernel linux-image-2.6.17-6-686 2.6.17-6.18 suspend2ram (as selected from the gnome-power-manager applet) goes into suspend state (led blinks as it should) but when awaken it gets stuck without ever printing anything to the LCD. This did work with dapper. I'll attach dmesg and lspci output shortly. hibernation seems to work ok except when the new vesafb based usplash is working (i.e. without 'splash quiet') but thats another bug. [Bug 52874] Re: fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad
Ping? This is actually a serious problem. I really don't like it when a lot of machines try to mount, read and access several thousand home directories whenever their users unlock their screensavers, especially when the network in question is pretty large and distributed. This places unnecessary load on my ldap servers, my file servers and on the desktop machine itself. Sucking all user details using a for loop and getpwent() is BAD. In response to the original comment: Gnome don't enable fast user switching in gnome-screensaver by default, Ubuntu do. Turning off fast user switching involves modifying a gconf schema *before* the user first logs in, otherwise the settings get copied as-is to their gconf settings, making this problem somewhat harder to rectify. In fact some way of disabling fast-user-switching completely regardless of the users config setting would be useful. -- fast user switching with ldap and autofs = bad https://launchpad.net/bugs/52874 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 56762] Bluetooth causes random freezes
Public bug reported: I have an ASUS Z96J laptop (this is basically the same as an S96J). When laptop is booted with the bluetooth module loaded, I randomly get freezes. Looking at syslog, this is caused by the Intel 3945 driver needing to be reset on a regular basis. If I blacklist the bluetooth module by editing /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist and adding: blacklist bluetooth to the end of it, the problem goes away. Now I just get a number of entries in my syslog complaining, "WARNING: Not loading blacklisted module bluetooth". I was also getting a lot of "ata2 is slow to respond, please be patient" which seem to have stopped. Note that I have to boot with acpi=off in order for my root file system to be found. [Bug 56752] Dictionary pops up a dialog if a word isn't found in the dictionary
Public bug reported: When looking up a word that doesn't exist in the dictionary that is found under Applications/Accessories/Dictionary a dialog is opened. The expected behavior is that there shouldn't be a dialog, since useless dialogs are evil. Instead you could display the information in the area that shows word definitions. ** Affects: gnome-utils (Ubuntu) Importance: Untriaged Status: Unconfirmed -- Dictionary pops up a dialog if a word isn't found in the dictionary https://launchpad.net/bugs/56752 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 56293] Re: Synaptic doesn't play nicely with proxy-auth
I agree with this, I am a quite uncomfortable with the security aspects of storing the proxy credentials in plain text in a file. Particularly in a corporate setting, which is where this is most likely to be a problem. Anyway, this seems to have been addressed already. I searched a bit more and found Bug #48332 and Bug #48329, the latter says the same I did above in a more concise manner, and has been reported upstream to gnome. http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=339134 -- Synaptic doesn't play nicely with proxy-auth https://launchpad.net/bugs/56293 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
