[Bug 57355] Re: BCM1390M (broadcom 4311) with ndiswrapper and nvidia IRQ conflicts
The txpower bug is fixed! full speed with bcm4311 and bcm4312! No need for ndiswrapper anymore. This is what you need. kernel 2.6.20 and 2 patches: ftp://lwfinger.dynalias.org/patches/2.6.20_combined this one fixes : > 1. The fix for DMA with > 1 GB RAM. > 2. Hello Jon P, Thank you for the bug report, can I ask what version of Ubuntu and which version of the flashplugin-nonfree you are experiencing problems with? Can you install it via Synaptic/adept instead of terminal? (I am presuming not, but its worth a try). [Bug 60764] Re: Large file transfer gives error: Corrupted MAC on input
Unfortunately it's still an issue. I first suspected the WLAN router but now the machines are directly connected by a switch and the problem still occurs... I initially noticed the problem with a video file taken with a digicam. I don't know exactly how big it was, probably around 50 MB. But the problem occurs rather randomly. The longer the file the higher the probability that the error occurs. As it is, I cannot even transmit a 20 MB file this way. Well. If you know a way to debug exactly where the MAC gets corrupted, I could try this. Other than that I don't know how this can be resolved. I'll also see if I can get my hand on another network adapter and see if that changes anything. In the meantime thanks for your time! -- Large file transfer gives error: Corrupted MAC on input https://launchpad.net/bugs/60764 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 83380] Re: Error while starting E-Gnome
I edited /usr/share/xsessions/e-gnome.desktop and changed line 5 from "Exec=starte16 GNOME to "Exec=/usr/bin/starte16 GNOME"' as suggested above. It didn't work - same error. I have also tried the suggestion of making a link from /usr/bin/starte16 to /usr/sbin/ which has apparently worked for other users (see Ubuntu forum thread above) but didn't work for me. [Bug 75084] Re: wbsd.ko hangs amd64 kernel due to wrong DMA memory allocation
let me clarify the situation: I, personaly, don't need help. I compile my own kernels, and I use the default kernel only once, on the first boot. But if somebody installs ubuntu with the default kernel, it will not boot, it will just permanently hang. You cannot put wbsd.ko into /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, or just delete it from /lib/modules, because the machine will not boot! And one has to have some knowledge to be able to track the problem down to wbsd.ko, and either use a live CD to tweak /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist or /lib/modules/*, or, as you say, feed "iommu=off" to the kernel at the boot time (not sure it will work). I still have the problem, mostly. The multimedia keys work fine but I cannot use the number pad (remember, this keyboard has no numlock key, it is always supposed to be a number pad), there is an = key on the numpad that I cannot use, and there is a . on the number pad that X11 thinks is 'delete' I would have no way of knowing when the mapping is ready so that I should reconfigure, but in my wild dreams Ubuntu would be cool enough to figure it out from the USB device ID. [Bug 81915] Re: [feisty] hald adds/removes same device many times a second causing high loads and extremally slow performance
I had the same problem. I am using Edgy Eft. I got really annoyed because my disk was constantly filling up with these log messages, and having hald use 50% of my CPU all the time isn't too cool either. I don't think I was even able to log into KDE with a full disk. It's a good thing I'm a degree-bearing computer scientist and not my grandmother, or I would have had to seek professional help. Thanks, original reporter, for this number: i82365. It was a PCMCIA driver. Since my desktop doesn't have any PCMCIA slots, it was safe to find i82356 and remove it here: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/lib/modules/2.6.19.2-dwh/kernel/drivers# ls pcmcia/ i82092.ko i82365.ko pcmcia_core.ko pcmcia.ko pd6729.ko rsrc_nonstatic.ko tcic.ko yenta_socket.ko rm -rf pcmcia/ The log messages stopped immediately. To fix it for your machine: cd /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers rm -rf pcmcia I will be sure not to compile PCMCIA support into my next kernel. -- [feisty] hald adds/removes same device many times a second causing high loads and extremally slow performance https://launchpad.net/bugs/81915 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 32088] Re: orinoco: "IRQ handler is looping too much!"
I'm on edgy now but I've mostly stopped using the orinoco card, because when I try it I usually have problems connecting, or a brief connection followed by repeated "out of range" messages in dmesg.
