[Bug 230488] Re: Ghosting in Firefox

2008-05-15 Thread Jarno Suni
My name is not Jamie. I am using Firefox default theme. I have NoScript
and Ubuntu Firefox Modifications _enabled_. I don't have ubuntu-desktop
or kubuntu-desktop installed, but xubuntu-desktop. I can't reproduce the
bug after restart.

Where did you find the XLIB_SKIP_ARBG_VISUAL variable documented? Is
that Mathematica specific, Linux specific, or some general Unix
environment variable like PATH, HOME and TERM?

[Bug 230954] [NEW] Keyboard won't work at start up

2008-05-15 Thread Linux Is Pure Pwnage
Public bug reported:

Right After my computer starts booting Grub, My mouse and keyboard won't
work until the log on screen. I would like to be able to switch kernels,
fix things, etc etc but my USB keyboard won't work. I use the up and
down arrows and nothing happends, my mouse light turns off, and one time
I had to re-install Ubuntu because it said something about a random
number, hit any key to continue. My keyboard does not work on Ubuntu
7.04 - 8.04 upon Grub.

Specs:
Current Operating System: Ubuntu 8.04
CPU: AMD Athlon 1800+
GPU: nVIDIA 5900XT over-clocked at 395MHz with latest driver
Keyboard: tried several keyboards made by different companies including
Microsoft, GrandTec, Belkin, and inland

I expected for my keyboard to work ever since I started using Ubuntu.

What happened instead was it would basically turn off my keyboard and
mouse right when it hit Grub (and Grub2) and I know this because My
keyboard flashes and stuff right before Grub.

I am not saying this problem is related to the package Grub but this
problem is not caused by my BIOS/CMOS settings.

Thank you.

[Bug 59981] Re: suspend makes network-manager say eth1 is a wired device

2008-05-15 Thread Anthony Borrow
Interesting, I have a Dell XPS m1330 on Ubuntu Hardy 8.04. For suspend,
I have to reboot in order to re-establish a connection. It seems able to
scan but not to connect after starting back up. I believe the mod
(driver) is IWL3945. I've not tried restarting HAL manually to see if
that helps. I've simply rebooted and then it eventually works but even
then I have to fiddle with disabling the networking and re-enabling
before it finally picks back up again.

[Bug 230963] [NEW] Gstreamer in Hardy is less capable than previous releases

2008-05-15 Thread Brian Burger
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: totem

A significant number of video files I have do not play in Totem in
Hardy, despite playing perfectly in previous releases of totem.

Sound is screwed up, many vids play incredibly slowly - at half speed or
worse - and a number simply refuse to play at all.

These are video files that have worked in previous versions of Ubuntu as
far back as Breezy, so I KNOW the issue is not the video files - it's
that gstreamer in Hardy has found some new and creative way to suck.

Most of these videos are clips either pulled off random websites or
emailed by friends, so I have no idea what or who holds copyright, or
what the procedure is. I am willing to post some that worked perfectly
in the past but do not with Hardy´s regression in gstreamer, though.

[Bug 230968] [NEW] Problem with proxy manager.

2008-05-15 Thread Ameet
Public bug reported:

Whenever I am behind a proxy and I want to connect to internet, I supply
my username and password to the proxy manager. Now this I observed with
Synaptic, that whenever I am giving a password, which has special
characters like '@' , '%' then there is a problem. The password and the
proxy site cannot be resolved properly and the application cannot
connect to the internet

Say my passwd is
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

so when the proxy manager tries to resolve

username:[EMAIL PROTECTED]@proxy:port

it generally takes [EMAIL PROTECTED] as the prosy server's name and hence cant
resolve it.

[Bug 212737] Re: Wacom tablet works from LiveCD but not installed hardy

2008-05-15 Thread Anthony Stellato
I have exactly the same problem with Hardy Final, my Mac Pro and a Wacom
Bamboo. The logs and errors look the same.

Attached are /var/log/messages for three separate boots trying different
configurations to get the tablet to work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as this is my graphics box and I
would really not have to go back to fiesty.

Thanks.
