[Bug 59617] Re: Incomprehensible sorting in Nautilus and ls when kana (hiragana, katakana) and latin are mixed
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 24388 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/24388 >From what I can tell, 24388 is not the same issue as this bug. Further it is now closed whereas this bug still affects Ubuntu 8.10. The above description is mostly correct, but the problem is as simple as: kana filenames are not properly sorted. They clearly sort according to something consistent because the same names always sort the same way, but so far I can't figure out what logic is behind it. Often, even files that start with the same character will be separated by many different files starting with many different characters. The problem is not limited to directories that have Roman filenames, or filenames with mixed names. -- Incomprehensible sorting in Nautilus and ls when kana (hiragana, katakana) and latin are mixed https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/59617 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 330830] Re: kde 4.2 dontzap config deletes xorg.conf
I've added dontzap, as that it the package with the issue you are investigating. I do not see this as a true problem, but rather a consequence of poor hand editing. Perhaps the dontzap package could choose to validate your x config and if it fails offer some options, but this is getting way out of scope. If you had the knowledge to mod the conf, then that sort of puts the onus back on you. EXA is not the default (yet) for good reason. When it is ready to be the default in the xserver and the associated video driver, then these manual settings you have made will be obsolete at any rate. This is on Ubuntu Intrepid 32 bit, using the latest jabref (2.4.2), and kile 2.0.1 (from the repos) I have the same problem, but this fix (creating the .lyx directory) does not solve it. without the .lyx directory, kile starts just fine, and without any error messages, and creates two pipes directly in the home directory: lrwxrwxrwx 1 dfolkins dfolkins 40 2009-02-18 16:51 .lyxpipe.in -> /tmp/kde-dfolkins/kileJwM0w6/.lyxpipe.in lrwxrwxrwx 1 dfolkins dfolkins 41 2009-02-18 16:51 .lyxpipe.out -> /tmp/kde-dfolkins/kileJwM0w6/.lyxpipe.out with the .lyx directory in existence, it creates those two, plus two pipes in the .lyx directory, which look like this: lrwxrwxrwx 1 dfolkins dfolkins 44 2009-02-18 16:51 lyxpipe.in -> /tmp/kde-dfolkins/kileJwM0w6/.lyx/lyxpipe.in lrwxrwxrwx 1 dfolkins dfolkins 45 2009-02-18 16:51 lyxpipe.out -> /tmp/kde-dfolkins/kileJwM0w6/.lyx/lyxpipe.out in either case, pointing jabref to any of the existing lyxpipes by full path, and trying to push a citation to it, fails with the following error in jabref (path changes depending on what's being pointed to): Error: verify that LyX is running and that the lyxpipe is valid. Public bug reported: Using Jaunty Kubuntu kernel 2.6.28-8-generic x86_64 kernel with Nvidia 7600GS display card and latest 180.29 display drivers. I'm using conky version 1.61 from the repos with a script which I wrote for conky 1.51 (Ubuntu) and Hardy Heron. If I type conky in terminal I get no errors, but when conky is displayed the background behind conky looks like the default grey splash screen for Kubuntu Jaunty. If I kill (via killall conky) conky the background (which was behind conky) now displays my wallpaper as expected. If I then re-enable conky via terminal the background behind conky reverts to the grey splash screen (see attached). At no point does the background (behind conky) display my wallpaper. Packages are nvidia-glx-180.29-0ubuntu2_amd64, nvidia-180-libvdpau_180.29-0ubuntu2_amd64,nvidia-180-kernel-source_180.29-0ubuntu2_amd64,nvidia-180-modaliases_180.29-0ubuntu2_amd64. [Bug 331264] [NEW] Unable to log in "greeter application is crashing"
Public bug reported: I just upgraded in Jaunty and now i have an error coming up. "The greeter application appears to be crashing. Attempting to use a different one." I've read different forums and so far nothing has helped. Not sure if this is a problem in the gdm package or not. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Unable to log in "greeter application is crashing" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331264 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 331265] [NEW] erroneous print area for HP photo tray
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: cups I am running Intrepid x64 on two different machines that both access an HP Photosmart C7280, and almost everything works perfectly. However, I am getting one annoying error, and it's the same error on both machines. I have added a photo printing queue for printing photos, and set the media size to "Photo or 4x6 index card", the printout mode to "photo (on photo paper)", and the media source to "Photo Tray". When I go to print (from both GIMP and EoG), I ensure the page set up is set to 4x6 photo paper. Then when I attempt to print (file/print...), the size reported under image settings are a fraction of what they should be--instead of 6" high by 4"wide, they're 1.62" high by 1.21" wide. I cannot increase the size, and "print preview" gives me a tiny little postage stamp of an image on screen. When I print it anyway, the photo is both cropped and surrounded by huge margins (see attached). Because gimp and eog behave similarly, I suspect the bug is somewhere in either cups or hplip--it's as if the adjustment from standard letter size to 4x6 printing happens twice instead of once. Some details: 1) Release: Ubuntu 8.10 x64 (Linux Mint Felicia x64, Ultimate Edition 2.0) 2) Package versions: eog 2.24.1-0ubuntu1, gimp 2.6.3-1ubuntu1~intrepid1, cups 1.3.9-2ubuntu7, hplip 2.8.7-0ubuntu6 3) Expectation: borderless print area, or at least approximating 4x6 4) Actual: print area a fraction of what I expected, without ability to increase ** Affects: cups (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- erroneous print area for HP photo tray https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/331265 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
