[Bug 386047] Re: Allow seamless switch from Grub2 graphical mode to kernel graphical mode

2009-07-30 Thread Felix Zielcke
The freshly new merged version in karmic has this feature now.
But I leave it up to the Ubuntu people to close the report.
Currently there is no support in grub-mkconfig for gfxpayload but someone
already sent a patch for it.

[Bug 397744] Re: monodevelop debugger not working

2009-07-30 Thread Martin Dederer
I looked into this issue again and tried rebuilding the package mono-
debugger_2.4.2-1 from source. This fixed the aforementioned problem i
described in the original report. In addition i had to install the
package mono-dbg_2.4+dfsg-5ubuntu1 to make the mono debugger work
correctly on monodevelop. I can debug c# applications using monodevelop
now.

So this issue might be fixed by rebuilding the mono-debugger package and
adding an additional package dependency to the mono-dbg package.

So it seems to be a problem in SIP. I've tried to recompile calibre, but
it FTBFS so it could come from there...

[Bug 407065] [NEW] Extension won't load because of misplaced configuration

2009-07-30 Thread Olivier Scherler
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu releast: 8.04.3 LTS
Package version: php-mcrypt 5.2.3-0ubuntu1
What I expect to happen: the PHP mcrypt extension loads and appears in the
output of phpinfo.
What happens instead: the PHP mcrypt extension does not load and does not
appear in the output of phpinfo.

Installing this package adds "extension=mcrypt.so" at the end of

/etc/php5/apache2/php.ini
/etc/php5/cgi/php.ini
/etc/php5/cli/php.ini

However, this way it doesn't load (does not appear in phpinfo output),
at least with php5-cgi version 5.2.4-2ubuntu5.6.

Moving this line into a file named "mcrypt.ini" in /etc/php5/conf.d/
solves the problem.

Linux Ubuntu version 6.06 Installer Crashed
Unable to install GRUB in hd0
Ubuntu 6.06 LTS - the Dapper Drake - released in June 2006.

The Partition Resizing dialog message dissapeared too fast before I could read
it, but Linux Ubuntu v6.06 instlled into the free space 51% it says.
Then the installe worked ok until it tried to install the GRUB at this point
the message says: Unable to install GRUB into hd0 which is a SATA Seagate 1.5

[Bug 407062] [NEW] gnome panel hanging for indefinite time after standby

2009-07-30 Thread Dominik George
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

In Ubuntu karmic, afterr putting the system into standby and powering up
again, it can occur that the panel hangs for an indefinite time.

This is: The icons in the notification area are not redrawn (but react
normally) and menus do not open nor do starters react.

After some time, the panel wakes up again, working on all the requests
it got earlier.

The attached screenshot shows the state where a wireless connection is
established, but the NetworkManager icon is not redrawn.

As the panel does not really crash but goes out for lunch for an
indefinite time, this is hard to debug for an end user.

[Bug 385658] Re: Karmic doesn't boot up on Studio XPS 1340 with Nvidia Hybrid graphics

2009-07-30 Thread Bryce Harrington
Second is the issue that if a card is not supported by -nv, the xserver
should not attempt to boot -nv, but rather use -vesa. I've filed this
issue upstream as https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23045 -
sub to this one if you wish; it's probably the more likely bug to get
solved in time for karmic.

[Bug 102773] Re: l10n broken in software-properties

2009-07-30 Thread Savvas Radevic
> This is not a translation issue. I have a complete French translation on my
> computer and software-properties-kde appears partially in English.

I don't mean to be rude, but are you 100% sure you are using it correctly?
First of all the ubuntu the package is: language-pack-fr-base
If you have that package installed REPLACE this file:

/usr/share/locale-langpack/fr/LC_MESSAGES/software-properties.mo

..with your 100% translated file. It should be in .mo format (NOT .po).
If you don't have a .mo file, you can choose "MO format" and download it from
here:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/software-properties/+pots/software-properties/fr/+export

Lastly, I was just checking out the translation status:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/software-properties/+pots/software-properties

As you can see in the attached screenshot, only 33% of the french
translation is included (green colour), and about 44% is new and *not*
packaged (purple colour).

[Bug 406979] Re: No desktop background

2009-07-30 Thread Aaron Turrall
Hello Nikola

I have done some googling and have found another bug report

"https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/270744";

This bug report also shows:

GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_unref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT
(object)' failed

although it is for a different process "network-manager"

I believe it is an underlying problem with 9.10

I will now try to recreate the bug

Thanks

[Bug 244445] Re: mounting dvd says: block device is write protected

2009-07-30 Thread Morpheus
Having the same problem with the same drive (Optiarc AD-7173A) on Ubuntu
Jaunty (AMD 64 bits) with 2.6.28-14-generic kernel, but only with DVD+RW
disks. Disks appears like blanks disk, but I can't writes them, too.

The sames disks works on my laptop (reading&writing) with another drive
Oprtiarc (model AD-7580S).

I've attached dmesg messages of DVDs and lshw -c disk logs (pc &
laptop).

[Bug 320829] Re: Bogofilter seems to fail decoding base64

2009-07-30 Thread Matthias Andree
Hi Christian,

thanks for providing some samples of faulty messages and a hint to the
cause of the problem.

Apparently bogofilter (including upstream version 1.2.0) indeed has
issues with decoding the message bodies; at least bogolexer doesn't come
up with body tokens.

WRT Ubuntu Core Developers as maintainers, please forward such reports
upstream. We're not actively monitoring distributor package bugs, so this isn't
ever gonna get fixed unless you forward reports on short notice. Letting
reports linger for half a year isn't useful.

[Bug 267549] Re: [needs-packaging] buzztard

2009-07-30 Thread A. Walton
I've started down the road of packaging buzztard and its dependencies,
you can find my work here:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~awalton/+archive/ppa

It's still not quite up to par, but it should be pretty close. Need to
do some more verification that everything necessary is being installed
and in there right places and that the debian/copyright files are
correctly up to date. Should be doable within the Karmic cycle (fingers
crossed).

This bug persists in the latest 2.6.24-24-xen kernel package that was
recently released for Hardy running in a domU on an Intel Xeon CPU

I can provoke the crash by downloading something with wget that pins the
ethernet interface.

[Bug 385658] Re: Karmic doesn't boot up on Studio XPS 1340 with Nvidia Hybrid graphics

2009-07-30 Thread Bryce Harrington
Fundamentally I think we have at least three separate bugs here.

First, the lack of support for 0866 cards. There's several bug reports
upstream about lacking support for 9400 cards, such as fdo #19545,
however none mentioned 0866 specifically, so I've filed an upstream bug
with this request: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=23044
and subscribed Mario (Jerone, you'll need to subscribe yourself since
you seem not to be already subscribed to the freedesktop.org bug
tracker). Please follow up with upstream with any info or testing they
need with this hardware.

[Bug 406544] Re: hotssh should depend on hotwire

2009-07-30 Thread Siggy Brentrup
Here's the trivial fix.

A better solution would be to put part of hotwire.externals into a separate
package
both packages can depend on, but that requires deeper knowledge of hotwire
which I'm not using.

[Bug 327739] Re: 'git pull' fails with "not uptodate. Cannot merge."

2009-07-30 Thread Anders Kaseorg
Okay. If this is fixed in 1.6.3.3-2 in Karmic (which is the same source as
1.6.3.3-2~ppa1~intrepid), then this should still be “Fix Released”. This will
probably only get fixed in Jaunty through a backport.
  https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports#request-new-packages

However, if you do manage to reproduce the problem in 1.6.3.3-2 (or
1.6.3.3-2~ppa1~*), please reopen again.
