[Bug 539460] Re: Hardy images fail to build with 0.12.2-0ubuntu3

2010-07-04 Thread Adam Collard
@Gunnar: if you're still getting that traceback you may want to check
out your loop devices using losetup -a, deleting any unused ones with
losetup -d then try again

Is this SRU still in progress? I really need this fix and avoided
patching locally because I saw the SRU had started. Is there anything I
can do to speed this up?

Any time frame on this hitting the updates ? I ain't eager on putting
proposed on my live servers for *any* reason. I did some testing on a

proposed.

2010-07-04 Thread Stefano Rivera
Public bug reported:

Changes:

libaio (0.3.107-7ubuntu1) maverick; urgency=low

- Set package priority to optional.
- debian/patches/90_ppc-name-clashing.patch: Avoid name clashing.
- debian/patches/91_ubuntu_arches.patch: More Ubuntu arches support.
  * Dropped changes:
- libaio1: Add conflicts and replaces.
- Build packages on lpia as well - we no longer support lpia

libaio (0.3.107-6) unstable; urgency=low

  * Workaround debhelper compat v7 bug (#534565) in dh_install which makes
files end up under /debian/tmp/ in the binary package, by not passing
--sourcedir to dh_install. (Closes: #533359, #532644)
  * Pass -s to arch dependent debhelper commands.
  * Now using Standards-Version 3.8.2 (no changes needed).

[Bug 591489] Re: QEMU_AUDIO_DRV set to none by libvirtd in Lucid

2010-07-04 Thread Tristan Schmelcher
Changing to confirmed since the reporter has provided the requested
information.

I too am experiencing this bug. Looking at the libvirt source code, it
specifies QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none whenever using VNC for graphics. The
comments say this is because it tunnels audio over the VNC connection.

/* QEMU implements a VNC extension for providing audio, so we
 * set the audio backend to none, to prevent it opening the
 * host OS audio devices since that causes security issues
 * and is non-sensical when using VNC.
 */
ADD_ENV_LIT(QEMU_AUDIO_DRV=none);

However, the VNC viewer that virt-manager uses apparently doesn't
support the audio extension. That's why sound is broken.

[Bug 477891] Re: keepassx don't copy the password into buffer by pressing Ctrl+C

2010-07-04 Thread Tom Metro
I observed this problem (same as comment #3), but after a reboot it went
away and stayed away for a while (weeks). I figured the explanation of
comment #4 was probably why.

I just noticed it has occurred. I re-enabled the PPA that had been
disabled on my 9.04 to 9.10 upgrade, and upgraded to 0.4.3, but the
problem is still there. It might get resolved by a reboot again, but if
this is reoccurring, there's clearly something broken.

Reinhard Tartler wrote:
seems like an upstream issue to me

I don't see any reports upstream. Seems more likely that there is a
specific interaction with Ubuntu. If an OS reboot temporarily fixes the
problem, but an application restart does not, chances are there is
something in the Ubuntu/GNOME environment that is ceasing to work after
a period of time.

I see an old Debian bug that appears to describe the same symptoms and offers a
patch:
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=414171

I'm guessing this occurrence has a slightly different cause, otherwise
it wouldn't work some of the time.

I don't see any upstream bugs so I created one:

[Bug 601495] Re: http://www.ooma.com/media/media-assets crashes Firefox for unknown reason.

2010-07-04 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Could you please generate an apport
crash report for this?
You can enable apport for one instance like this:
sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport start

I am marking this invalid as apport will open a new bug when the crash
is generated. If it does not, you can reset the status of this one to
New and we will try something else.

[Bug 601536] [NEW] KDE 4.5 RC: Login Manager forgets user name

2010-07-04 Thread David Nemeskey
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kdm

I am using Kubuntu, and recently I have upgraded to the KDE 4.5 RC
packages (http://www.kubuntu.org/node/157). Aside from the upgrade
procedure being a total, albeit not luckily once-in-a-lifetime disaster,
there are some bugs that can be reproduced easily. This is one of them.

Before the update, kdm remembered the last successfully logged in user
(me), and I only had to enter my password to log in. This is not the
case anymore: I have to type in my user name as well. I am not ignorant
to the existance of the new Convenience tab in the Login Manager page
of System Settings; however, even though the Preselect User is set to
Previous, the behavior remains the same (Actually, I think it had been
already set to Previous when I checked it the first time.)

Screenshot attached.

Re: [Bug 465710] No sound on HDMI after upgrading from jaunty to karmic

2010-07-04 Thread gerk
Hi Pedro,

I can no longer reproduce this bug. I vaguely remember that it disappeared
after I used nvidia-xconfig, and explicitely set the driver in xorg.conf to
nvidia.
But that was after experimenting with the different nvidia driver chaoices
(nouveau, nvidia proprietary etc.)

Please sync radeontool 1.6.1-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main).

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:

We can sync this package as debian has released a new upstream version

Changelog since current maverick version 1.6.1-0ubuntu1:

radeontool (1.6.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Jonathan Nieder ]
  * New upstream release.
 - includes r128 support (closes: #572168).
  * Drop all patches (applied upstream).
  * Generate upstream changelog from git log. See README.source
for details.
  * debian/copyright: Fill in more details.
  * debian/rules: Rewrite using dh.  Requires a build-time
dependency on debhelper 7.0.50.

dependencies on autoconf, automake, and libtool and a build-time
conflict with automake1.4.
  * debian/radeontool.sgml: Move manpage to section 8 (thanks to
Helge Kreutzmann, closes: #570839).

dependency on quilt.

[Bug 601368] Re: Firefox takes 100% cpu when first starting

2010-07-04 Thread Micah Gersten
Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu. Sometimes Firefox profiles can
become corrupt and/or extensions can conflict. Could you please try
this with a new profile and see if the problem still exists? You do not
need to delete your old profile to test. If this helps, you might want
to try to disable all your extensions and re-enable them one by one
until you find the problematic one.

You can start the profile manager with the following command:
firefox -ProfileManager

[Bug 601542] Re: gedit needs to avoid freezing the ui when working on files on slow storage

2010-07-04 Thread Kwinz
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: gedit

- How
+ How to reproduce:
+ 1. Use gedit 2.30.3 from Ubuntu 10.04.
+ 2. Open one or more files from slow storage (e.g. sshfs over 100kbit/s
connection).
+ 3. When working, opening and storing the UI will often become unresponsive.
+ This will result in delayed response to clicks, scrolling and sometimes even
gray out the whole window.
+ It is not only constrained to the current file but will affect all open tabs.
+
+ I think gedit needs some more multi-threading, doing the blocking tasks
+ in the background not annoying the user.

[Bug 574854] Re: lucid xorg regression - thinkpad x40 (855GM) freeze at xorg startup

2010-07-04 Thread carton
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 541511 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/541511

The ppa:glasen/intel-driver and ppa:glasen/855gm-fix 855gm-fix-exp-dkms
packages downloaded 2010-07-04 work for my X40 so far: booting does not
hard-freeze with a black screen, compiz effects work, xv movie-playing
works, suspend works. thank you.

I've made no other changes for the problem, though I have been running
without 'quiet' and 'splash' in grub for years because I find all that
pretty boot wallpaper garbage stupid and dangerous.

Suspend while playing a movie did not work. :) also I've only been
testing for about 1 hour.

Ubuntu 10.04, installing with Ubuntu Software Center. Installs fine, but
no menu item / launcher is created and needs to be added manually.

Are you sure that there is no menu item? It just uses the debian menu system
to install one under the section Applications/Emulators. Additional it uses
freedesktop .desktop system to install a desktop file under
/usr/share/applications/mupen64plus.desktop

Both appear under debian (kde). I am currently downloading ubuntu 10.4 to test
it. Can you please add information what desktop environment you are using and
if you are member of the games group (/etc/groups). And please never forget to
add exact information what version of mupen64plus version you are using and
from which repository you got it. There are many PPAs with more or less broken
mupen64plus packages and there is no official mupen64plus ubuntu package
(only a package synced from debian in ubuntu universe).

[Bug 599255] Re: dmraid cannot use over 2TB raid0

2010-07-04 Thread Danny Wood
The version of gparted in my ppa doesn't rely on kpartx like the repository
version. It should leave dev names alone but the repository version seems to
screw them up adding a p in sometimes.
The next version of dmraid will leave the p in there, there is a discussion on
this in this bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gparted/+bug/554582

In addition to this ubiquity (the installer) doesnt seem to be able to
repartition dmraid drives at all. Its best to create the partitions
using gparted and install without modifying the partition table.

Back to the bug!

The new output gives me exactly what I want to know! (finally)

I've written a script which dumps the data at those locations and then
compresses them.

[Bug 569900] Re: mount: mounting /dev/md0 on /root/ failed: Invalid argument

2010-07-04 Thread Lobo
Confirmed - after multiple install attempts resulting in /dev/md definition
weirdness and a (initramfs) prompt, I finally have 10.04 installed on RAID1
/dev/md partitions. Tried the repartition manually just before installing - no
joy. I wiped the disks clean then used the installer and manually set the last
partition to be ~1GB smaller than the partitioner was suggesting and _bang_ it
worked flawlessly. Here are some details about the setup - you guessed it 2 x
500GB Seagate disks...:
