Initially, I needed to upgrade for some problems that I have with programming libraries. [Bug 791066] [NEW] Impossibile to change keyboard layout while renaming a file in Nautilus 2.32.2.1
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity This bug concerns Ubuntu 11.04 64 bits with Unity 3.8.12-0ubuntu1 . The file management system has been changed to Nautilus 2.32.2.1. If I right-click on a file name, choose "rename", type some Latin characters then press on the right win key, which I've configured to be the keyboard layout switcher, in order to add characters in Mongolian Cyrillic, then my changes are dropped, so that it's very difficult to mix Latin and Cyrillic characters in a file name. This is very necessary, for instance to name a file in Cyrillic with a valid extension (in Latin characters), such as "Отгонцэцэг.txt". This bug doesn't concern Ubuntu 11.04 classic 64 bits. I would expect that, as in Ubuntu classic, when one switchs layout while renaming a file in Nautilus, he be able to go on typing the file name. [Bug 701294] Re: Always show menu bar for non-maximised windows
I totally agree with Robert's suggestion about the Global Menu. And by a possible configuration option it wouldn't have to look like this anymore (I guess the intention was to show which menu I'm working with, but it looks quite ugly (unaethetic) to use the space of the buttons to show the application's name). ** Attachment added: "graphical blemish" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity/+bug/701294/+attachment/2150114/+files/global_menu.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/701294 Title: Always show menu bar for non-maximised windows -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 787995] Re: Leafpad segfaults
I am runnning the distributed Ubuntu-package version of leafpad. However, during my investigation of the problem I wanted to run it through gdb and produce a useful backtrace to see where the error occured. Thus, I needed debug symbols. As I could not find any -dbg package in the mirrors, I did an apt-get source leafpad in order to obtain the source code. Then I compiled it myself and ran it through gdb in order to produce the above traces. Please note, I did not change anything in the source AND it produces the same error when using the pre-packaged version of leafpad as when I am using the self-compiled one. This bug is reported for the Ubuntu-packaged one and not the self- compiled version. I am sorry for any confusion and I hope this is clear now. According to the backtrace, the error happens on line 83 in window.c. This is what hinted the theme relation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/787995 Title: Leafpad segfaults -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

After testing with and without Compiz, I'm more or less convinced > that links always work when Compiz is off and occasionally do not work > when Compiz is on. They won't work when the window is not focused, yes. Have a look at section 6.3 of the ICCCM for why they can't work: http://tronche.com/gui/x/icccm/sec-6.html . In order to raise windows we need to ensure that we can capture button clicks on them (otherwise click raise won't work on anything other than the titlebar). By doing this it will trigger a "grab" on the other application and it gets a LeaveNotify event (the same kind of event that is given when the cursor leaves the subwindow). ... unfortunately there is a bug in GTK+ where it does not actually check the *reason* the LeaveNotify event was given, so the link will not work in the case where we have the grab. I poked through the GTK+ code to try and figure out why this was, but I couldn't get a substantive answer. I've changed the compiz code in N to reflect this problem, so now we do passive button grabs as little as possible, and only on windows that we actually own. Let me know if you're still experiencing this problem on focused and raised windows. > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are a bug assignee. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/687732 > > Title: > gtk.Label link-activate signal broken with compiz in natty > > Status in Unity: > Fix Released > Status in “compiz” package in Ubuntu: > Fix Released > > Bug description: > The attached test program works fine in maverick but fails in natty. > > In a nutshell, when clicking on the link in the label nothing happens in > natty but I expect that it prints something > (which it does in maverick). [Bug 777498] Re: indicator does not light up or indicate number of new messages
I have two IMAP(one Gmail and the other is from my university) accounts and one POP3(MSN) account. This notification works all fine with the two IMAP accounts but not the POP3 account. [Bug 790480] Re: Unable to re-open gradient editor
Also seeing this on Ubuntu 11.04 (32-bit, classic). [Bug 791037] [NEW] metv stops all usb devices on current port
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: me-tv Upon opening me-tv, it will get about 5 seconds of tv data then it will freeze all usb devices, atached to that same port. i have a usb splitter with a mouse, exgternal hd & tv card going into 1 port on my laptop for convenience when me-tv crashes the usb port, the mouse and hd also stops working; loosing power. logging off then back on fixes this, and the touch pad / web cam still works afterteh crash, but nothing plussed into a usb port. ubuntu 11.04 Toshiba qosimo ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: me-tv 1.3.6-1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-8.42-generic 2.6.38.2 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-8-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Architecture: amd64 Date: Wed Jun 1 14:10:47 2011 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release amd64 (20110427.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_AU:en LANG=en_AU.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: me-tv UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: me-tv (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug natty running-unity -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/791037 Title: metv stops all usb devices on current port -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 511379] Re: Jockey fails to install Broadcom STA wireless driver (BCM4311)
The same problem on my Dell Inspiron 1545, which is running Broadcom Corporation BCM4312 802.11b/g LP-PHY (rev 01) according to lspci. I SOLVED this problem using the guide from Broadcom: http://www.broadcom.com/docs/linux_sta/README.txt (see at the bottom under "Ubuntu"). I think this is the same solution given by Stanley. The weirdest thing about this bug is that IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHEN I RAN THE LIVE CD. Probably means that Jockey needs to recompile the bcm kernel (which isn't really a problem when running from a thumb drive). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511379 Title: Jockey fails to install Broadcom STA wireless driver (BCM4311) -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
