[Bug 1023887] [NEW] Please remove openmpi1.5
Public bug reported: openmpi 1.5 is the upstream beta release of openmpi 1.6, which is now out, available in Debian, and synced to Ubuntu as openmpi1.6. I have verified that openmpi1.6 is operational in Ubuntu. openmpi1.5 was added to Precise, based on Debian experimental, for ARM support as a stopgap until upstream released 1.6 and Debian published a package in sid for it. This has now happened, so openmpi1.5 has now been superceded. It has no reverse depends. [Bug 1017738] Re: NM fails to connect Wi-Fi -- Intel Centrino Wireless-N 1000
Did the apport-collect as requested. Note upstream says when they receive the authenticate from Ubuntu the kernel connects with no problem. As in the dmesg excerpt below, Ubuntu should have issued the authenticate at time 52 but did not. At time 371 I gave up waiting and connected manually to the hidden network, WPA security. Following the dmesg is a syslog excerpt showing a similar gap between time 40:06 and 44:29 Do note this is a regression, booting Ubuntu 12.04 from another partition has no trouble. Looks like the last thing on dmesg at time 52 is something about Nautilus doing a connect to the USB hard drive. No idea why it does that, I haven't even started the file manager, but I am booted from the USB hard drive. [Bug 980616] Re: Printing Deutsche Bahn ticket on Kyocera PS printer takes 5 minutes (regression to 11.10)
Felix, note that we have issued a Stable Release Update (SRU) for cups- filters in Precise. to address bug #668800, bug #951627 (comment #30), bug #998087, bug #992982 (comments #26, #27, #30, #31), bug #997728, bug #994477, bug #998087, bug #978120, and bug #862167. The change is switching pdftops from using Ghostscript back to using Poppler and limiting the maximum rendering resolution to 300 dpi. The behavior is configurable though, so please try the following commands: Switch renderer (Ghostscript or Poppler): lpadmin -p printer -o pdftops-renderer-default=gs lpadmin -p printer -o pdftops-renderer-default=pdftops Back to default: lpadmin -p printer -R pdftops-renderer-default Switch maximum resolution (0 is for no limit): lpadmin -p printer -o pdftops-max-image-resolution-default=1440 lpadmin -p printer -o pdftops-max-image-resolution-default=0 Back to default: lpadmin -p printer -R pdftops-max-image-resolution-default Replace printer by the actual printer name as shown by lpstat -v. Please try the different posiibilities and tell us what works for you and what not, so that we can find out what causes bad performance and find the best defaults for the future (Ubuntu Quantal, 12.10). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980616 Title: Printing Deutsche Bahn ticket on Kyocera PS printer takes 5 minutes (regression to 11.10) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/libcairo/+bug/980616/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1023890] [NEW] Krfb usage changes keyboard behaviour system wide - also when closed!
Public bug reported: I am using Krfb as server for enabling remote access to this Ubuntu12.04 64bit machine. The problem is that sometimes remote sessions changes the keybord layout completely on this remote machine. The changes keeps persistent, also when all remote connections are closed and Krfb is quitted. This is a violation of what Krfb should be allowed to do. - Steps to reproduce: 1. Enable krfb access over Menu - Settings- acces to workspace - Security - uninvited connections (setting a phassphrase there) 2.Use a scond computer and start the remote client programm krdc(I have used SLE Desktop 11 SP2 64bit with krdc4.3.5) 3. Connect (over LAN 198.127.1.x) to the Ubuntu 12.04 krfb server machine and give your phasprase. 4.Confirm the incomming connection on the Ubuntu12.04 krfb server machine 5.Operate from the client(SLED11SP2) on the server(Ubuntu12.04): Start virtualbox4.1.18(ppa of Felix Greyer)- Start a Ubuntu12.10Quantal64bit vm on the server - operate from remote client(SLED11SP2) in the vm(Ubuntu12.10):terminal,phasprases,synaptic,etc.) 6.After a while you will see that the keyborad layout works not normal(very cryptic, wrong key set, big changes to litte and invers). 7. This is not fully reproducible in time, so you will need to operate a while arround. I have hit this on two operating attemts two times. [Bug 1023486] Re: Cannot resolve domain names if eth0 is in /etc/network/interfaces
/etc/resolv.conf contains only 127.0.0.1, as introduced by NetworkManager. /run/resolvconf/interface contains only NetworkManager, which has 127.0.0.1 with possibly a search and/or domain entry. /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d is irrelevant in this particular case and files wheren't changed. original however contains what it *probably* the information introduced by ifupdown; but that's incidental. /etc/resolvconf/interface-order: unchanged; contains lo interfaces, then tun, tap, hso, em, p, and eth, ath, then wlan and ppp. This is straight-out a bug in the patch that assumes *UP* for unmanaged interfaces. Maybe that patch ought to be dropped by now, but it at the very least needs to be updated to take into account changes to how DNS updates are being done now; it's probably a simple matter of checking whether the NMDevice is unmanaged at the point at which DNS is about to be changed; but there might still be the issue of reverting to the original data. Totally reproduceable on my system -- Triaged, because the next steps are pretty obvious. ** Changed in: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = Triaged ** Changed in: resolvconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1023486 Title: Cannot resolve domain names if eth0 is in /etc/network/interfaces To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/resolvconf/+bug/1023486/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 762917] Re: Printing from LibreOffice needs two calls to really print
Added Option Timeout 1d to /etc/cups/cupsd.conf on the CUPS server. @Tero: Is this the option you were referring to? I'm asking because the manpage mentions a couple of different timeout options. Unfortunately this did not bring any change in my case. Printing with 'lp' from the console works perfectly and fast, as it used to. So the problem must be somewhere in the KDE/LOo Realm, not with CUPS, as the printing system itself seems to work as it should. Printing from KDE Applications, e.g. PDFs from Okular, works as well, but in 12.04 I cannot switch greyscale/color anymore, but that's another issue. [Bug 1021960] Re: dbbuild fails with could not be resolved
Hi! That is not the fault of PackageKit, the compat layer is wrong and Ubuntu does some extremely crappy things, e.g. forcing the PyApt-backend in Ubuntu-Drivers, which is totally broken and has been removed (again) from distribution. (We weren't able to ship it in Debian with RC bugs) Btw, Aptdaemon is *not* much more modern than PK ;-) There's only one advantage of Aptd at time, and we're working on PK to solve this issue. (However, Aptd can expose some advanced Apt features on DBus, which PK can't, but that is irrelevant for Software Centers) - Of course, read this as an opinion of a PackageKit developer. ;-) I'll send message to ubuntu-drivers, so they can fix their dependencies and probably add possible missing features to Aptcc. [Bug 1019083] Re: Quantal A2 failed to automatically connect Centrino Wireless N
Hi Jerry, do net hesitate. kernel developers are sometimes are a bit unpatient. Give me some days to find time to look at your files. Jerry, it is not necessary to write so much over one bug. We have over 98.000 open bugs here and someone must read all that what you write if you write. This needs time that we do not have in common. So, lesser is most more here. It should be changed from NAME=tomcat7 to NAME=$( basename $0 ) CATALINA_HOME in this case should be hardcoded (or moved to a different variable). [Bug 1023036] Re: Error on /usr/share/ubiquity/plugininstall.py, line 1687, affecting desktop images (preseeded install)
Today's jenkins runs showed that the debconf protocol has got out of sync. In this sequence of commands: db_set hw-detect/select_modules $LIST db_input medium hw-detect/select_modules || true db_go || exit 10 # back up ... the db_input is receiving the reply to db_set, and db_go is receiving the reply to db_input. This certainly explains the peculiar bail-out, but it doesn't yet explain why the protocol is out of sync in the first place. [Bug 1021960] Re: dbbuild fails with could not be resolved
Oh, btw: It appears that you're creating a completely new SQL db from raw data... It would probably make more sense and be a little bit faster to use the original Xapian database, as discussed in our AppStream[1] meeting. Unfortunately, the generator code to build the DB from AppStream XML or Apt package data is closely integrated with the Ubuntu Software center. I'm doing lots of work on PackageKit at time to make cross-distro software centers possible, and I also work on the cross-distro fork of the USC. (required because of Canonicals CLA to make contributions from Red Hat, SuSE and others possible) As the next step I will probably create an independent Xapian generator, written in C++. (I'd love to use Vala, but there are no C bindings for it...) If work starts on that, I can notify you. Using Xapian from Vala should also work by creating some glue code. Positive effect: Software center becomes distro-agnostic, at least if you use PackageKit bindings and not Aptd specifics. [Bug 1021733] Re: Complete the Additional Drivers implementation
As for NoReply, there are three common causes: - aptdaemon crashes in the middle of an operation. Do you get an apport crash report when this happens? - You call the operation synchronously. This should not be done, call it async and then have aptdaemon call a result callback. - You keep the aptdaemon d-bus object around for a long time, while aptdaemon timed out regularly (after some minutes of inactivity). However, this actually ought to result in a ServiceNotFound exception, or should even re-activate the daemon through D-BUS. NB I haven't looked at the source code at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1021733 Title: Complete the Additional Drivers implementation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/software-properties/+bug/1021733/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
