[Bug 1049186] Re: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd
Just for the record, 'getent group username' and 'groups' should NOT be identical. Just plain groups will list the set of groups that were assigned to you *at login time*, whereas 'getent group username' or 'groups username' gives you the list of groups that would be assigned to you if you logged in right now. So it's expected that they would be different if you changed memberships since logging in. Hi guys! I would really appreciate if someone could help me to debug this issue. This issue is quite annoying for me, so I'd like to help debug this. [Bug 850850] Re: Can't undo accidental declining of ttf-mscorefonts-installer
** Description changed: - wine 1.2.2-0ubuntu7, debconf 1.5.40ubuntu1 + debconf 1.5.40ubuntu1 1. In Ubuntu Software Center, navigate to Wine and start installing it. 2. When the Debconf prompt appears for installing the Microsoft Core Fonts, decline it. 3. When Wine finishes installing, remove it. 4. When Wine finishes uninstalling, install it again. Debconf shows a window saying If you do not agree to the 'TrueType core fonts for the Web EULA ' license terms you cannot install this software. The installation of this package will be canceled. [Bug 1050311] [NEW] playback progress bar gets stuck although song is still playing
Public bug reported: While doing the laptop tests for beta 1, I encountered a weird bug on Rhythmbox's UI. I tried to move the playback forward using the progress bar on the top right, but missed the bar and ended up clicking a little bit too high. The results were: 1) song kept playing as if nothing happened (good since I apparently missed the progress bar click zone), 2) the playback progress bar got stuck at the playback poisition at which I made the click. The song eventually kept going until the end, with the playback progress still stuck somewhere in the middle in the song. See screenshot attached, that displays the invalid playback position although the song playback had already finished. Steps to reproduce this bug: 1) Launch a song with Rhythmbox. Mine was the one contained in the example folder in my home folder. 2) Click the playback progress bar on the top right corner of the UI to move the song forward. That should work as expected. 3) Click again but aim to a position lower or higher than the bar, your pointer should turn into a hand for a fraction of second if the manipulation succeeded. 4) The playback should resume but the progress bar should now be stuck. 5) Restarting the song does not unlock the progress bar, for me I had to correctly register a click on the bar as in step #2 to get the progress bar alive again. Expected behaviour: Not too sure about this one. If correct registration of the progress bar click is assumed to be when one clicks ON the bar itself, then aiming a little too under or upper should not do anything. However, if the registration zone is expected to cover the height of the playback tool bar (i.e. the height of the Pause button), then wherever I click in the progress bar zone should move the progress bar at the right position (i.e. the registered relative x-position of my mouse pointer) and keep the playback and its progress alive. As usual, let me know whether further testing is required. [Bug 1050311] Re: playback progress bar gets stuck although song is still playing
I just compared with Rhythmbox 2.96 on Precise and the click registration zone gets displayed between 2 horizontal lines (see my mouse pointer on screenshot). Clicking elsewhere does nothing. Again I don't know how the new design, where the progress bar has now been moved to the right, intended to manage this. I suppose the same mechanism is still in use and a click registration zone still exists albeit not explicitly displayed. If this is the case, I would suggest to use a similar behaviour as in the working Precise version, while keeping the currently layout which arguably looks prettier. ** Attachment added: playback_progressbar_precise.png https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1050311/+attachment/3312117/+files/playback_progressbar_precise.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1050311 Title: playback progress bar gets stuck although song is still playing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/rhythmbox/+bug/1050311/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1049202] Re: syslog-ng-mod-mongodb has deadlock problems
In all honesty, I believe the best would be to push 3.3.6 (or better yet, 3.3.7 due on Oct 31) into the next LTS point release due to the large amount of fixes both small and large that went into that release. I'm not entirely sure whether that's possible, and if so, how, but with my upstream hat on, I strongly recommend 3.3.6+ for production use, instead of trying to port back patches on top of 3.3.4 (in the end, you'll end up with 3.3.6 anyway, save a few minor things). Packages for 3.3.6 are already available - built for 12.04 as well as for other Ubuntu and Debian releases - from http://asylum.madhouse- project.org/projects/debian/ ** Changed in: syslog-ng (Ubuntu) Status: New = Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049202 Title: syslog-ng-mod-mongodb has deadlock problems To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/syslog-ng/+bug/1049202/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1049186] Re: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd
You can't compare 'getent group xxx' with 'groups'. The first lists user names, the second group names. Perhaps you meant to say that 'groups' and 'groups $USER' are not necessarily the same. The first returns a list that was created at login time, the second an up-to-date list. Good to point that out, especially in connection with my comment #6. However, the main issue here (bug #1049186) concerns incorrect output from getent group, getent group grpnm and groups foo, all of which (I believe) are supposed to report current information, not information collected at login time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049186 Title: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1049186/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

On every reboot, cntlm does not work properly. Config 1: I put 3 Listen lines in cntlm.conf to only bind 3 interfaces. On the boot log, cntlm complaints that 'Cannot bind port ', with the first 2 reason are set to the port is used and the last reason is set to interface not available. Then I got 'No proxy service ports were successfully opened' message, but a few lines later it stated that the cntlm daemon has been started sucessfully. Later on if I did 'netstat -an | grep LISTEN', I only see the first 2 interface bound to cntlm. Manually restart the service works every time. Config 2: Instead I set the 'Gatewayl' parameter to 'yes'. On the boot log, cntlm is no longer complaint that it can't bind the port, however I still see 'No proxy service ports were successfully opened' message followed by successful daemon start. On 'netstat -an | grep LISTEN', I got cntlm listening to '0.0.0.0:8081', however if I use the proxy, cntlm *always* return that cntlm can't forward the request. From the IP trace of the interface, I can see cntlm does not even try to open *any* request connection, just immediately return the browser client request with the above error message. [Bug 1050339] [NEW] live ubuntu 12.10 desktop not working
Public bug reported: I have installed an ubuntu 12.10 beta (I tried both with x86 and amd64) in an usb stick with unetbootin. Turning the computer on works fine, the ubuntu logo works fine but when it gets to the live desktop, the launcher appears, menu bar too but wallpaper is messed up, like strange icons and parts of the launcher. Opening the Dash works fine, launching an app does not work properly too, a shadow can be seen in the desktop but not more than that. Mouse does not work too. Strangenly I tried to start the computer with an external monitor and at that moment both the external monitor and the laptop itself seems to work fine. This is only at the live desktop, I have not tried to install ubuntu 12.10 so far. I currently use ubuntu 12.04 at the moment and everything always worked fine(live desktop worked fine for me too when I installed). I use Asus x50din series. Intel core duo 2, geforce g102M with an 15,6 inch display. Thanks for reading my comment. I hope I did not make any mistake. Greetings. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1050339 Title: live ubuntu 12.10 desktop not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1050339/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1049186] Re: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd
Jakub wrote in comment #1 Is the behaviour reproducable within a single SSSD session? In other words, if you log in after the ten seconds have passed and the getent command reports correct group memberships, does groups still show wrong membership? Sorry, Jakub, I didn't answer this question in my first reply to your comment. As Stephen has just pointed out, the output of groups doesn't ever change. It reports information collected at login time. The output of groups foo does change ten seconds after restarting sssd. root@ellen:/# su foo foo@ellen:/$ groups domusers foo@ellen:/$ groups foo foo : domusers foo@ellen:/$ # Restart sssd here foo@ellen:/$ groups domusers foo@ellen:/$ groups foo foo : domusers foo@ellen:/$ # Wait ten seconds foo@ellen:/$ groups domusers foo@ellen:/$ groups foo foo : domusers devel publish domadmins foo@ellen:/$ Logging in again causes foo to disappear again from all but one group. foo@ellen:/$ exit exit root@ellen:/# su foo foo@ellen:/$ groups domusers foo@ellen:/$ groups foo foo : domusers -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1049186 Title: sssd forgets group memberships of foo when foo logs in; remembers them after ten seconds after restarting sssd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/sssd/+bug/1049186/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1047315] Re: Dash - All applications which are a dependency of Ubuntu Desktop should not have an uninstall button in their preview
unity-lens-applications needs to know if application can be safely uninstalled or not (i.e. is a dependency of ubuntu-desktop); this information should be provided by software-center-dbus. ** Also affects: software-center Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1047315 Title: Dash - All applications which are a dependency of Ubuntu Desktop should not have an uninstall button in their preview To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/1047315/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1048763] Re: grub-mkconfig/probe gives incorrect device name on PowerPC
** Description changed: Hi, in my grub.cfg created with grub-mkconfig I have repeated lines like this: set root='(hd0,apple4)' search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root big-long-number-1000 I'm on PowerPC and the 'hd0' I think should be just 'hd' (the openfirmware devalias). Tracing this back through the code I find it comes from prepare_grub_to_access_device (in grub-mkconfig_lib.in) which calls grub-probe (and this is where the hd0 comes from). I haven't delved any further than this yet (I'm very rusty at reading code). Obviously it would be great to fix grub-probe for PowerPC, but there is an obvious and easy solution in prepare_grub_to_access_device. Currently the code is: # If there's a filesystem UUID that GRUB is capable of identifying, use it; # otherwise set root as per value in device.map. echo set root='`${grub_probe} --device ${device} --target=drive`' if fs_uuid=`${grub_probe} --device ${device} --target=fs_uuid 2 /dev/null` ; then echo search --no-floppy --fs-uuid --set=root ${fs_uuid} fi - I think there should be an elseif in there. Currently is sets root + I think there should be an elseif in there. Currently it sets root using the device map and then immediatly overrides it with the UUID. I can't see why it should be done twice. It should be one or the other: use the device map OR the UUID. This would also make grub.cfg files shorter and easier to read. If you need anymore info let me know!
