It also works by changing lxsession-default
launcher_manager to lxsession-default
launcher on both shortcuts.

I would imagine being able to disable haptic feedback would have a
positive impact on battery life.

I confirm the fix proposed at #4 works, only the file is
~/.config/openbox/lubuntu-rc.xml and not ~/.config/openbox/lubunturc.xml

Re: [Bug 1297051] Re: gnome-terminal doesn't recognise C1 controls

An additional comment on this ... if I use latin1 encoding then normal
shell commands like 'man' have glitches in their output, presumably
because they use Unicode characters and assume, for example, UTF-8
encoding. If I use utf8 encoding then my remote application does not
work at all (because the remote application is completely incapable of
sending UTF-8 encoding).

This is OK for me. I just means that I should use the terminal so that
it automatically SSHs to the remote system, selecting the correct
encoding for that system (latin1). That is, I need to have a terminal
that is dedicated to the session on the remote system, while keeping
that separate from any terminal that is on my local computer. That is
all fine for me.

What does not work is to make a terminal, type some local commands, then
SSH to the remote system - unless I change profile around the SSH. (Of
course it would be nice if this were automatic.) Strangely, while in the
released gnome-terminal I can right mouse click and change profile
dynamically, in the program that I built from source as per your
instructions, this feature seems to have disappeared. Is there still
some way of maintaining and selecting profiles?

Regards

Derek

[Bug 1352718] [NEW] Unknown memory utilization in Ubuntu14.04 Trusty

2014-08-04 Thread Santosh Teli
Public bug reported:

I'm running Ubuntu Trusty 14.04 on a new machine with 8GB of RAM, and it
seems to be locking up periodically and nothing is in syslog file. I've
installed Nagios and have been watching the graphs, and it looks like
memory is going high from 7% to 72% in just a span of 10 mins. Only node
process are running on server. In top I found all process are running
very normal memory consumption. Even after stopping node process. Memory
remains with same utilization.

free agrees, claiming I'm using more than 5.7G of memory:

   free -h
 total used free sharedbuffers cached
Mem: 7.8G 6.5G 1.3G 2.2M 233M 612M
-/+ buffers/cache: 5.7G 2.1G
Swap: 2.0G 0B 2.0G

However, I'm having trouble determining what exactly is eating all of that
memory. Running top or htop doesn't seem to single anything out, and ps_mem.py
(https://raw.github.com/pixelb/ps_mem/master/ps_mem.py) claims that I'm using
much less than the system thinks...

[Bug 1342000] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla

2014-08-04 Thread bugproxy
--- Comment From vaish...@in.ibm.com 2014-08-05 06:24 EDT---
-- Externalizing comment from Richard --

(In reply to comment #19)
> Indira, are you or were you able to install 14.04 in the same host?

I have the same issue on on of my guests, netg3, so I can answer this.

When I start the 14.04 LTS install, I see two virtual disks listed in
the partitioner questions. One disk is a 55GB virito-scsi disk (the
intended root target disk) and the other is a 12GB virtio-block disk
(intended for I/O tests).

When I start the 14.10 install, I only see the the 12GB virtio-block
disk. The virtio-scsi root disk is not listed.

So, it is definitely possible to install 14.04 on the same guest disk
where a 14.10 installation would fail.

I will do this for my KVM host. The relevant guest, in my case, is
netg3.

[Bug 1350307] Re: "Transfers" view broken for MMS downloads

2014-08-04 Thread Martti Piirainen
Re-tested on mako image 171, some more observations:
 - No panic observed anymore (the backtrace of the one I mentioned last week is
here http://paste.ubuntu.com/7905663/ , but it really was a one-time occurence
only).
 - But pausing/resuming the MMS download in "Transfers" makes the MMS reception
fail every time. The download is shown as successful but the MMS is not shown.

The attached files (nuntium log + store) contain three MMS receptions (all in
Sonera, Finland network):
 1. Uninterrupted, successful
 2. Paused/resumed, not received, no error in nuntium log

Re: [Bug 1332444] Re: CH Pedals are not working in 14.04

2014-08-04 Thread michael
Hi Martin
they worked yesterday after executing the script I've sent. But today they're
dead. I don't know why but dead is the only word I find. Events

seem to change hence the * in my script (in my email from yesterday) I
see below that my CH Pedals are not even mentioned.

Let me know if I should execute commands to isolate the problem:
Thanks

I did give you the terminal commands mostly. Perhaps just not that one:
"find the correct /dev/input/eventNN" translates to "ls -l /dev/input
/by-id/" and looking which one sounds like your pedals.

So again, what does "isn't working sometimes" mean exactly? Doesn't
XPlane detect the joystick, or does it detect it but doesn't  get events
from it, or something else?

[Bug 1351470] Re: Please merge exim4 4.83-2 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2014-08-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package exim4 - 4.84~RC1-3ubuntu1

---
exim4 (4.84~RC1-3ubuntu1) utopic; urgency=low

  * Merge from Debian unstable (LP: #1351470). Remaining changes:
- Show Ubuntu distribution on smtp:
  + debian/patches/fix_smtp_banner.patch: updated SMTP banner
with Ubuntu distribution
  + debian/control: added lsb-release build dependency
- Don't provide default-mta; in Ubuntu, we want postfix to be the
  default.

exim4 (4.84~RC1-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Third try. Simply comment *custom* in debian/control.

exim4 (4.84~RC1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Re-upload, after manually removing *custom* from the changes file to avoid
false detection of NEW packages due to the changes in the archive
infrastructure related source-only uploads.

exim4 (4.84~RC1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release candidate, fixing a regression in the MIME handling
code.

exim4 (4.83-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Upload to unstable.

exim4 (4.83-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release which includes the fix for CVE-2014-2972.

exim4 (4.83~RC3-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release candidate.

exim4 (4.83~RC2-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release candidate.
+ JH/26 Port service names are now accepted for tls_on_connect_ports, to
  align with daemon_smtp_ports. Bug 72. Closes: #316441

exim4 (4.83~RC1-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream feature release candidate.
+ JH/06 Log outbound-TLS and port details, subject to log selectors, for a
  failed delivery. Closes: #712987
  * Unfuzz 31_eximmanpage.dpatch and 50_localscan_dlopen.dpatch.
  * Drop superfluous patches: 75_unbind-ldap-connection.diff
76_fix_ldap_option_setting.diff 77_close-the-server-side-of-TLS.diff
80_fix_ftbfs_hurd.diff
  * Since exim4-base currently only includes daily cronjobs let anacron
fulfill the dependency, too. Systems with missing recommends (anacron
recommends cron) that are *not* restarted regularily will therefore not
run the cron-job regularily. Exim should not break horribly in this case
and we can assume the local system administrator knows what (s)he is doing
by disabling installation of recommends. (Policy: "[...] packages that
would be found together with this one in all but unusual installations")
Closes: #733929

2014-08-04 Thread Seth Arnold
When this was set to Private Security, only you and the Ubuntu security
team, and select administrators, could see the issue. I marked it public
because thousands of people have filed private security issues and
received plain text emails; it's not a secret. (There's not much that
is kept secret for long; once coredumps have been analyzed, they are
deleted and the bug automatically made public.)

Re: [Bug 1297051] Re: gnome-terminal doesn't recognise C1 controls

On 05/08/14 10:17, Egmont Koblinger wrote:
> which goes something like this:
OK, after a certain amount of guessing and over 1GB of download and
install, yes, I managed to do that.

It does appear that it is now correctly recognising the CSI character.

However that then reveals another problem. The remote host is assuming
that the terminal emulator supports the RI (Reverse Index) character
(code 0x8D). This is another of the C1 controls.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C0_and_C1_control_codes

The effect is then that, in the editor, the left, right and down arrow
keys work but the up arrow key does not (because the host is sending an
RI in response).
> And these days when you watch videos of cats online, who cares about 1

OK. Fair enough. The performance difference isn't all that significant. :-)

The more fundamental issue is that if a terminal emulator asserts to the
remote host that it emulates a VT200 series terminal then it needs to do
so. Because gnome-terminal says that it is a VT200, the remote host is
entitled to use all of the features of that terminal. In reality much of
the C1 control set was not standardised or is not used.

I would expect that 0x9D (OSC) and 0x9C (ST) are used and should be
implemented. OSC, as a synonym for ESC+"]" can probably be done the way
you have done CSI. Possibly 0x90 (DCS) would be used somewhere.

> Really out of curiosity, could you please name a few of these
> "built-in programs (for example, the editor)" along with the system
> they're running on?

The remote system runs the VMS operating system. As VMS was created by
the same company that created the various VT terminal series, probably
it is more rigorous in its demands that a VT terminal emulator really
does emulate correctly. Almost any program under VMS that uses the
built-in screen handling modules will malfunction if the emulation is
not accurate.

Regards

Derek

2014-08-04 Thread Forest
For the record:

This happened to me during a distribution upgrade from 13.10 (saucy) to 14.04
(trusty). When it happened, the release upgrade tool interrupted itself with a
dialog box containing this alarming and not very helpful message:
Could not install the upgrades
The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery
will run now (dpkg --configure -a).

This dialog box was modal, preventing me from scrolling or copying the
text in the Terminal widget to see what really happened. The text
visible in the Terminal widget did not show up in any of the /var/log
/dist-upgrade/* logs, but it was clearly a python exception and stack
trace.

Upon closing the dialog box, the upgrade continued, contrary to what the
alarming message stated. (I guess the message was referring to one
particular package, not the overall release upgrade, but most end users
wouldn't know that, and even if they did the message didn't state which
package.)

As the upgrade continued, I was unable to copy & paste the stack trace
before it was pushed out of the Terminal widget's rather short scroll
buffer.

Is there any way I can get this to work. Mobile Partner software is not
working either. It screws u the permissions too so it is a very bad
solution anyway. Is there any other information I can provide?

[Bug 741869] Re: Unity/compiz intercepts Super and Alt keypresses from grabbed windows like VMs.

2014-08-04 Thread DiegoRivera
This bug needs to be fixed for those of us that don't use unity and only
rely on gnome-shell. The problem seems to have been diagnosed to compiz,
and thus the fix should be focused there so that it's not unnecessarily
tied to unrelated packages (i.e. unity, as was the fix mentioned above).

[Bug 1241822] Re: RAID 5 not available after upgrade from 13.04 to 13.10

2014-08-04 Thread LoungeLizard
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1241086 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1241086

I upgraded to kernel 3.13.0.32.28 (3.13.0-32-generic) after getting a
message about hardware updates for my system was coming to an end of
life and I should do a hardware update. Normally I use apt-get dist-
upgrade for such a thing but I had a friend over and I used the upgrade-
manager gui as an intro to how easy upgrades are etc. etc. etc
only this time, dave and joe, we had a problem...

I previously was running 3.08.0-33-generic with a /data folder mapped to
a dmraid (software raid) array of 4 drives as type raid-5 but actually
mapped as 2-pair striped and mirrored on an ASUS motherboard having
NVIDIA chipset for onboard graphics, drive support, and other I/O. This
system has been running fairly stable for a few years with minor
upgrades since being built when 320Gb SATA2 HDs were coming down in
price. It is getting dated, though...

After upgrade, I get the same result as mimmo on this bug report. I've
never made a bug report so wouldn't know the protocol - but would like
to report the issue I just ran into - since it seemed that mimmo's was a
couple of major commits ago.

When I revert back to the previous kernel during boot on grub -
everything works as it did prior to upgrade, so I suffered no data loss
and no major problems. When I let it boot to the new build, and I run a
few dmraid commands, the drives are intact, just the kernel doesn't know
about it.

dmraid -s and dmraid -b reports the same metadata in both environments

If you want log data, please let me know protocol of what's needed.
I'll keep my workstation as is for a little bit before digging and
trying to fix on my own... I may eventually off-load my array to a
single 2TB disk so I have a good backup and rebuild the array with a new
set of 2TB drives (assuming I can rebuild)

[Bug 1352672] [NEW] wifi "other networks" layout broken when OSK is visible

2014-08-04 Thread Selene Scriven
Public bug reported:

Under Settings -> Wi-Fi -> Other network, the visual layout breaks when
the OSK is visible and encryption is enabled.

I first saw this in Utopic 170, though it may have been around earlier

visible" widgets are shown in the same location as the "Cancel" and
"Connect" buttons.

[Bug 1352640] Re: Huge PCI BAR support needed for Ubuntu 14.10

2014-08-04 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1352640/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

That fixes the bug. Even symlinks created by the faulty kernel will be

not in writing.

[Bug 1309439] Re: package samba-libs 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: subprocess new pre-installation script returned error exit status 1

2014-08-04 Thread Clement Cherlin
This bug, experienced during a upgrade from 13.10, put my server in a
state where I couldn't use su or sudo to become root to fix it. I
rebooted the server from the console, and then found that it would no
longer boot at all. I had to boot from CD-ROM to finish the upgrade.

if hardware cannot distinguish headset and headphone

does this mean that the function if the Jack is determined by capture
source ?

internal Mic = headphone
headset Mic = headset
headphone Mic = mic

   value 'Internal Mic'
   comment {
access 'read write'
type ENUMERATED
count 1
item.0 'Headphone Mic'
item.1 'Headset Mic'
item.2 'Internal Mic'

if you only use headset and want automic when you plugged in
you need to giveup the support of Mic jack and headphone by a new hint which
change the logic

== Comment: #0 - Brian Hart  - 2014-08-04 17:26:34 ==
---Problem Description---
Our project requires Huge BAR Support (i.e. support for PCI BAR spaces > 1G) in
Ubuntu 14.10. Guo and Gavin are working on the kernel changes (and
Sapphire/OPAL changes?) and have already submitted patches. The patches did
not make the 3.16 cut-off, so will need to be back-ported to the 14.10 kernel.

I believe the patches are the set described by:

https://lists.ozlabs.org/pipermail/linuxppc-dev/2014-July/119170.html

Contact Information = Brian Hart (ha...@us.ibm.com), Dave Marquardt

ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux

---Additional Hardware Info---
Problem is seen with PCI adapters that request > 1G of BAR space. We've seen
it with GPUs that request a BAR1 of size 16G.

Machine Type = 8286-42A

---Debugger---
A debugger is not configured

---Steps to Reproduce---
Add a PCI adapter which requests huge BAR space in the system. The huge BARs
will not be assigned and the adapter will likely not initialize.

[Bug 1319595] Re: upstart script ignores some php-fpm.conf parameters, cannot be bypassed in preference of SystemV init script.

2014-08-04 Thread Jeff Waugh
This is quite a serious regression because it badly impacts integration
with other systems that depend on sysvinit compatibility.

My use case: AWS::CloudFormation::Init (cfn-init) understands sysvinit
services, but not upstream services. On Trusty, I can't restart php5-fpm
with the init script due to this bug, therefore cfn-init won't restart
it in response to file changes.
