[Bug 1739934] Re: release upgrade failing from zesty to artful
background info: system had been installed under hardy heron and upgraded many times. Last running OS on this hardware config was 17.10 artful. Many years have passed and very little of the original hardware hasn't been replaced. I decided I wanted to clean out the cruft and do a clean start. So I started with mythbuntu-16.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso from a USB stick. Additional xfs media disks / boot backups had to be disconnected. Otherwise the installer would hang. System was installed onto a clean partition. After the installation was finished and all apt upgrades were done, release was switched from lts to normal. From there I tried to run "do-release-upgrade" successively to get to 17.10. The last stage failed with the error above. After fixing the mythbuntu-desktop package problem by doing another "apt dist-upgrade" the final upgrade to 17.10 worked fine. So this may not be a bug, but rather a package configuration issue. The installer isn't very good at communicating underlying issues up to the user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1739934 Title: release upgrade failing from zesty to artful To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-release-upgrader/+bug/1739934/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1739939] [NEW] Update Ubuntu-4.15.0 config to support Intel Atom devices
Public bug reported: After the mainline kernel was patched with 'serdev: Add ACPI support' (commit 53c7626356c7584e82510d86394a6dcd80525614) and 'serdev: enable TTY port controller support by default' (commit 22b276a4072087e7b7f1723ccd8a1aa18fab8bbf) and 'Bluetooth: hci_bcm: Add serdev support' (commit 33cd149e767be9afbab9fcd3d5165a2de62313c8) the mainline kernel the config needs CONFIG_SERIAL_DEV_BUS=m changing to CONFIG_SERIAL_DEV_BUS=y and CONFIG_BT_HCIUART_BCM=y to keep sound and BT working on Intel Atom devices. Currently the latest Ubuntu config for 4.15 (see 0006-configs-based-on- Ubuntu-4.15.0-2.3.patch) still only has CONFIG_SERIAL_DEV_BUS=m The config needs to be update to take into consideration the implications of the aforementioned patches together with the settings identified. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1739939 Title: Update Ubuntu-4.15.0 config to support Intel Atom devices To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1739939/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1739765] Re: xt_TCPMSS buffer overflow bug
Yes, already queued by Eric Dumazet in all stable since report in April http://patchwork.ozlabs.org/patch/746618/ Yes, i did, but troubleshooting done and fix issued by Eric Dumazet. Also there is chance exist that someone used it for malicious purposes "in wild" at that moment, as it appeared at peak time on ISP, in specific network with many users, while exactly same setup on other locations didn't had this issue. That was reason to enable KASAN and to search for it. No CVE as far as i know, i just don't know how to do that. Not sure if Eric or netfilter developers (for example Pablo Neira Ayuso) filled anything. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1739765 Title: xt_TCPMSS buffer overflow bug To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1739765/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1739347] Re: Nepojmenovaná složka 3
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System -> About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. Same happens on Mediacom Smartbook 14 Ultra (M-SB14UC). Can't save bios settings or boot USB. Is there a fix, since I needed to install Windows from USB on my machine? ** Description changed: SRU Justification Impact: Many users are reporting issues with bios corruption with 17.10. This seems to stem from enabling the intel-spi-* drivers in the kernel, which don't appear to be ready for use on end-user machines. Fix: Disable this driver. Test Case: Fix has been verified by our HWE team on affected hardware. Regression Potential: Minimal, it's unlikely anyone is actually doing anything which requires this driver. --- Hi all, Basically on Lenovo Y50-70 after installing Ubuntu 17.10, many users reported a corrupted BIOS. It's not possible to save new settings in BIOS anymore and after rebooting, the system starts with the old settings. Moreover (and most important) USB booting is not possible anymore since USB is not recognized. It's very serious, since our machines do not have a CDROM. [Bug 1739917] [NEW] Please merge orca after source package rename
Public bug reported: I renamed gnome-orca to orca in Debian. I am letting the package autosync so that it will make it through Ubuntu's new queue. [Bug 1575053] Re: Please move snap user data from "$HOME/snap" to "$HOME/.snap" (or to "$HOME/.local/share/snap" in accordance with the XDG spec)
+1 for moving the snap directory to a more standard place and hiding it. The way I see it, you have two choices for a folder like this (and all other software I use conforms to this): 1. Make it non-configurable and hide it in a standard, widely accepted location (~/., .local/, .config/) 2. Make it user-configurable. Or you could get really crazy and do both. But creating a visible, non-configurable folder directly in the user's home dir is just plain bad. You'll get nothing but complaints. People who don't like it there or want it spelled with an upper case 'S' or want to call it 'Applications' or something. This is actually worse than littering the file system with loop devices. :-P -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575053 Title: Please move snap user data from "$HOME/snap" to "$HOME/.snap" (or to "$HOME/.local/share/snap" in accordance with the XDG spec) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snapd/+bug/1575053/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
