[Bug 1758642] Re: eom incorrectly fails with unrecognised format on TGA collections

2019-08-26 Thread arQon
This bug is still present in 16.04, but seems to be fixed in 19.04. I
don't see an explicit commit for it though, which makes me wonder if
it's a memory corruption issue in the GTK layer.

[Bug 1841518] [NEW] Default Pluma theme should be changed to match the rest of UM

2019-08-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

On a clean install, MATE uses a "standard" Light theme. Pluma not only
ignores the system theme, but also defaults to a Dark one, leading to a
jarring mismatch with everything else.

This is especially egregious given that it's the default text editor and
as such something that every user is going to encounter very quickly,
even if just using a LiveCD to evaluate UM.

Fixing the bad behavior would be the ideal solution, but is a lot more
work. In the short term though, the default theme for it should be
changed to Classic so that it at least looks like the rest of the
distro.

It seems there is no equivalent 4.2 upgrade for python-cinderclient so

[Bug 1840965] Re: dhclient initramfs code writes invalid net-eth0.conf

2019-08-26 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
I'm attaching a patch for dhclient-enter-hooks.d/config.
I thought to imitate ipconfig and write all values even if they're empty.

For the debian/dhclient-script.* scripts which use chmod/chown parameters that
aren't available in busybox, it might be best to just omit them, or use `cp/rm`
instead of `chown/mv`.
`cp` is supposed to preserve target attributes etc, so it'll work in a real
system, even if `busybox cp` doesn't do that.

[Bug 1841510] [NEW] LONG delay sometimes 10+ minutes when opening file dialogue

2019-08-26 Thread Debbie
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using
XCFE 4.12

2) The version of the package you are using
affects multiple programs including thunderbird and xed
thunderbird:
  Installed: 1:60.8.0+build1-0ubuntu0.16.04.2
xed:
  Installed: 1.4.6+sonya
gthumb:
  Installed: 3:3.4.3-1
3) What you expected to happen

I expect to be able to open a file or save as within a few seconds.

4) What happened instead
When I try to open a file or attach a file or save as it can take over 20
minutes. But the really weird thing is sometimes it is nearly instantaneous. So
I am writing this as the problem has worsened
- using thunderbird
- wanted to attach a file
- hung for a few minutes
- was able to finally attach it

Tried with gthumb (great program) to "save as' clicking on the icon to do so
- first image was nearly instantaneous and worked fine
- second image - took several minutes (is still hung so cannot say how long!)

This works not works is a constant finding! it is almost an alternate
use of any file dialogues works fast - works very slow - works fast.
Very strange and very annoying

Other information: some people report that having network resources not yet
mounted caused this:
- I have several network disks - some mounted, some not
- are all in fstab (some are not turned on at the moment)
- some are bookmarked in file managers
I tried removing these and still had the issue BUT seems to be a longer delay
since adding some network disks to fstab

I hope this is the correct information - have not reported a bug before.
Really appreciate ubuntu and the help you give. Thank you.

[Bug 1800794] Re: usb-modeswitch can't apply Configuration=0 to Snapdragon X12 LTE

2019-08-26 Thread Lars Melin
As RussianNeuroMancer correctly pointed out the bug is in the concatenation of
the strings
MODULES_PATH, kversion, and CDC_MBIM_DRIVER_PATH into cdc_mbim_module_path.

The ending linefeed char in kversion is the culprit and it makes the dispatcher
unable to detect the presence of a cdc-mbim module.
usb_modeswitch will therefore not be able to automagically select the mbim
configuration in the modem, usb_modeswitch thinks that the mbim driver is not
present in the system.

Please try disabling wifi and then run this command to ensure the errors

Once confirmed the wifi errors have stopped, do you still see graphics
freezes?

That does not make sense, apparently.

Changed it so the usb-modeswitch binary depends on tcl8.6, and the TCL
dispatcher is run using /usr/bin/tclsh8.6.

The tcl8.6-dev build depend proved to not be needed, so I dropped it.
Actually there is not much building happening. Not sure if that is an
indication that something is wrong...

The upstream source has a jim/ folder with a lot of stuff, but that
folder is excluded in the Debian/Ubuntu source.

[Bug 1841457] Re: QEMU Eoan FTBS in my machine (gcc9 + amd related ?)

2019-08-26 Thread Rafael David Tinoco
FOUND THE ISSUE!

Whenever compiling from a git (or git-ubuntu) repository:

./configure:

1868 # Consult white-list to determine whether to enable werror
1869 # by default. Only enable by default for git builds
1870 if test -z "$werror" ; then
1871 if test -e "$source_path/.git" && \
1872 { test "$linux" = "yes" || test "$mingw32" = "yes"; }; then
1873 werror="yes"
1874 else
1875 werror="no"
1876 fi
1877 fi

# Now we've finished running tests it's OK to add -Werror to the compiler flags
if test "$werror" = "yes"; then
QEMU_CFLAGS="-Werror $QEMU_CFLAGS"
fi

and then config.log:

QEMU_CFLAGS -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -Werror
-DHAS_LIBSSH2_SFTP_FSYNC -pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0
-I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/include -pthread
-I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/glib-2.0/include
-fPIE -DPIE -m64 -mcx16 -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64

-Wwrite-strings -Wmissing-prototypes -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common
-fwrapv -std=gnu99 -g -O0 -fdebug-prefix-
map=/home/inaddy/work/sources/ubuntu/qemu=. -fstack-protector-strong
-Wformat -Werror=format-security -Wdate-time -Wexpansion-to-defined

Werror will be configured by default in QEMU_CFLAGS (independently of
dpkg-buildflags).

To avoid that we could use:

--disable-werror disable compilation abort on warning

But not exactly sure why this is happening now since the configure
changes are old.

Removing the .git directory I got:

QEMU_CFLAGS -I/usr/include/pixman-1 -DHAS_LIBSSH2_SFTP_FSYNC
-pthread -I/usr/include/glib-2.0 -I/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-
gnu/glib-2.0/include -m64 -mcx16 -D_GNU_SOURCE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64
-D_LARGEFILE_SOURCE -Wstrict-prototypes -Wredundant-decls -Wall -Wundef
-Wwrite-strings -Wmissing-prototypes -fno-strict-aliasing -fno-common
-fwrapv -std=gnu99 -g -O0 -fdebug-prefix-
map=/home/inaddy/work/sources/ubuntu/qemu=. -fstack-protector-strong
-Wformat -Werror=format-security -Wdate-time -Wexpansion-to-defined
-Wendif-labels -Wno-shift-negative-value -Wno-missing-include-dirs
-Wempty-body -Wnested-externs -Wformat-security -Wformat-y2k -Winit-self

-Wtype-limits -fstack-protector-strong -I/usr/include/p11-kit-1
-I/usr/include/libpng16 -I/usr/include/libdrm -I/usr/include/capstone

like expected. (No -Werror flag).

There are multiple building issues solved by multiple upstream patches,
as demonstrated in this bug description. I was interested in why Werror
was turned into default in my environment and comment #1 explains the
cause (despite the building errors that could/should be fixed as well).

[Bug 1580385] Re: /usr/bin/nmap:11:hascaptures:hascaptures:hascaptures:hascaptures:hascaptures

2019-08-26 Thread Bryce Harrington
The packaging changes between xenial and bionic don't seem to involve
lua-lpeg, and notably the patch 0003-Link-against-lua-lpeg.patch is
included in both (the patch is refreshed for lua5.3 in bionic, so the
patch isn't identical).

The diff of CHANGELOG between 7.01 and 7.60 doesn't indicate a mention
of lua-lpeg or a fix of a recursion error, and none of the mentions of
lua fixes seem to match this error. There's a lot of changes between
these two versions, though. I'm guessing a bisection search would be
the most straightforward way to identify the fix?

ddstreet, when you tested against the bionic lua-lpeg, were you testing
with lua5.2 or lua5.3? Presumably you've ruled out lua as a variable?

[Bug 1798171] Re: System fails to boot with \EFI\BOOT\mmx64.efi - Not Found

2019-08-26 Thread dan ringer
had the same error with Clear Linux:

Failed to open \EFI\org.clearlinux\mmx64.efi - Not Found
Failed to load image \EFI\org.clearlinux\mmx64.efi - Not Found

Failed to start MokManager: Not Found
Something has gone seriously wrong: import_mok_state() failed
: Not Found

doing this from #51:
# chattr -i /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/Mok*
# rm /sys/firmware/efi/efivars/Mok*

from Kali (multi boot) fixed it.

I multi boot win 10, macOS from clover, kali, Clear, openSUSE tumbleweed and
Slackware on a test machine. OpenSUSE recent update enabled secure boot and
put the Mok* files there, I disabled secure boot, rewrote grub from there,
double checked and deleted the Mok files from the last boot and that kept the
problem from reoccurring.
Thank you so much for clearing up this problem.

-Dan

[Bug 1840347] Re: Ceph 12.2.12 restarts services during upgrade

2019-08-26 Thread Eric Desrochers
** Description changed:

  [Impact]

Upgrading from ceph on Ubuntu 18.04 causes the ceph-osd services to be
  restarted without prompting.

This appears to be in the configure section on the ceph-common,postinst:
  # Automatically added by dh_systemd_start/11.1.6ubuntu2
  if [ "$1" = "configure" ] || [ "$1" = "abort-upgrade" ] || [ "$1" =
"abort-deconfigure" ] || [ "$1" = "abort-remove" ] ; then
  if [ -d /run/systemd/system ]; then
  systemctl --system daemon-reload >/dev/null || true
  if [ -n "$2" ]; then
  _dh_action=restart
  else
  _dh_action=start
  fi
  deb-systemd-invoke $_dh_action 'ceph.target' >/dev/null ||
true
  fi
  fi
  # End automatically added section

This is a change of behaviour compare to debhelper 9.
--restart-after-upgrade is the default in compat 10.

The expected behavior during a package upgrade is to leave all the ceph
service states unmodified. They should not be enabled/disabled or
  stopped/started.

  [Test Case]
  * Check pid of ceph-osd (before upgrade)
  * sudo apt-get update
  * sudo apt-get upgrade
  * Check pid of ceph-osd (after upgrade)

If the pid changes, it means ceph-osd has been restarted, and the
restart or stop/start has been exercised.

  [Potential Regression]

Low, the desire is to control the precise timing of the restart.

The larger context is that there may multiple updates (in this case
- kernel) and one want a single stop/start when the reboot occurred.

[Bug 1841388] Re: "do_IRQ: 2.33 No irq handler for vector"

2019-08-26 Thread Chris
So another thought: The problem came back after rebooting, but I noticed
that I had the "Arduino web plugin" installed still, and it had
automatically started itself at boot. I uninstalled it and rebooted, and
the problems went away again and haven't returned.

[Bug 1832144] Re: Ubuntu 19.04 suspend freeze on Dell inspiron 7373

2019-08-26 Thread Sean Yang
Have you tried updating your bios? I had the issue with a dell inspiron
7370 with a ssd and dual boot windows/ubuntu 19.04.I had the issue. It
works most of the times now. However, sometimes it still breaks. From
the debug guide, I tried skipping bios and it seemed to work fine. So I
updated the bios.It seems like updating the bios helped with the issue
for me.

[Bug 1798790] Re: Ubuntu login screen sometimes doesn't appear on a single GPU Nvidia system (and setting WaylandEnable=false fixes it)

2019-08-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gdm3 - 3.33.90-1ubuntu1

---
gdm3 (3.33.90-1ubuntu1) eoan; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian. Remaining changes:
+ README.Debian: update for correct paths in Ubuntu
+ control.in:
  - Don't recommend desktop-base
  - Depend on bash for config_error_dialog.patch
  - Update Vcs field
+ rules:
  - Don't override default user/group
  - --enable-gdm-xsession to install upstream Xsession script
  - override dh_installinit with --no-start to avoid session being killed
+ rules, README.Debian, gdm3.8.pod:
Use upstream custom.conf instead of daemon.conf
+ gdm3.{postinst,postrm}: rename user and group back to gdm
+ gdm3.postinst, gdm3.prerm: don't kill gdm on upgrade
+ gdm3.*.pam: Make pam_env read ~/.pam_environment
+ gdm3.install:
  - Stop installing default.desktop. It adds unnecessary clutter
("System Default") to the session chooser.
  - Don't install debian/Xsession
+ Add run_xsession.d.patch
+ Add xresources_is_a_dir.patch
  - Fix loading from /etc/X11/Xresources/*
+ Add nvidia_prime.patch:
  - Add hook to run prime-offload (as root) and prime-switch if
nvidia-prime is installed
+ Add revert_override_LANG_with_accountservices.patch:
  - On Ubuntu accountservices only stores the language and not the
full locale as needed by LANG.
+ Add dont_set_language_env.patch:
  - Don't run the set_up_session_language() function, since it
overrides variable values set by ~/.pam_environment
+ Add config_error_dialog.patch:
  - Show warning dialog in case of error in ~/.profile etc. and
don't let a syntax error make the login fail
+ Add debian/patches/revert_nvidia_wayland_blacklist.patch:
  - Don't blacklist nvidia for wayland
+ Add gdm3.service-wait-for-drm-device-before-trying-to-start-i.patch:
  - Wait for the first valid gdm device on pre-start
+ Add debian/default.pa
  - Disable Bluetooth audio devices in PulseAudio from gdm3.
+ debian/gdm3.install
  - Added details of the default.pa file
+ debian/gdm3.postinst
  - Added installation of default.pa and creation of dir if it doesn't
exist.
+ debian/greeter.dconf-defaults: Don't set Debian settings in the
  greeter's dconf DB
  * Should fix Wayland to Xorg fallback on slow machines (LP: #1798790)

[Bug 1841489] [NEW] gnome-boxes reset VM network config on start

2019-08-26 Thread Kirill Malgichev
Public bug reported:

I am trying to configure bridged network (switch from default NAT to
bridged conction) for one of VMs created by gnome-boxes app.

Here is my steps:
1. $ virsh -c qemu:///session edit ubuntu18.04 and change

  to

2. $ virsh -c qemu:///session start ubuntu18.04
Domain ubuntu18.04 started

3. $ virsh -c qemu:///session domiflist ubuntu18.04
Interface Type Source Model MAC
---
tap0 bridge virbr1 virtio 52:54:00:41:f7:ed

So, ubuntu18.04 VM gets external IP address and can be accessed from other PCs
in the network. My problem is that configuration resets back to "user" or NAT
network (with new mac address) each time gnome-boxes application started. In
rare cases my "bridged network" configuration can survive gnome-boxes startup
but will be reset back to defaults after VM shutdown.

Same behavior when using virt-manager to configure networking.

[Bug 1841450] Re: After install qemu-kvm the boot freezes with splash screen

2019-08-26 Thread Bryce Harrington
Hi Filip,

Looks like you've got a typical conflict between the nvidia proprietary
driver and your kvm kernel module in your local configuration. Getting
this working can be a bit tricky and so I'd suggest soliciting help from
community support channels (http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community).
I'm not super familiar with kvm+nvidia myself, but here's a few links
that look potentially relevant:

 * http://mathiashueber.com/fighting-error-43-nvidia-gpu-virtual-machine/
 *
https://docs.nvidia.com/grid/latest/grid-vgpu-release-notes-generic-linux-kvm/index.html
 * https://wiki.debian.org/VGAPassthrough

If you don't actually need GPU passthru, and don't need the nvidia video
driver, you could try removing it and running kvm with just nouveau. If
you do want to keep the nvidia driver, then hopefully the above links
will help.

Getting the workflow improved for kvm with proprietary kernel modules
installed would of course be great, so if you have actionable ideas let
us know.

I'm marking this "Invalid" because it doesn't appear to be a bug, but if
I'm wrong, please change it back to "New" and add some more info to
point me in the right direction. Use this link as a guide:

[Bug 1841488] [NEW] [Ubuntu18.10][Backport] Crypto VMX Fixes

2019-08-26 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

Cosmic is missing the fix for "5c380d623ed3 - crypto: vmx - Add support
for VMS instructions by ASM (4 years, 5 months ago) " ... which is fixed by 'crypto: vmx - fix copy-paste error in
CTR mode', it fixes a couple of incorrect branch targets, and usage of
an incorrect vector assembly instruction.

The others two patches ("crypto: vmx - CTR: always increment IV as
quadword ", "crypto: vmx - ghash: do nosimd fallback manually ") fixes
for ghash replaces the fallback mechanism that is used on powerpc an
operation is required to operate in interrupt context.

These fixes are important to avoid a potential data integrity issue.
