This was with 11.10 or 12.04 right? Anyway, the bug had to do with a graphics card that I had installed that was unknowingly incompatible with xorg (to my best understanding). I don't even remember what graphics card it was anymore. I have since got a raedon HD card that has eradicated the issue. Hope this helps close the case. Alex On 01/04/2014 10:58 AM, Christopher M. [Bug 1247689] [NEW] Ubuntu one: ods files upload to cloud, but won't download as ghost files creating u1conflicts

I have a desktop (calculon) and a laptop (bender) both running 13.10.
I noticed the bug when the changes I made in my spreadsheet on
calculon weren't carrying over to bender. I went onto the U1
website and they were being uploaded no problem, no .u1conflict. So I
tried it in reverse, deleted and restored the files, in different
combinations to try to break the cycle, to see if the change would go
over and nothing. The changes still won't register on my other
computers. I am sure that its because they won't download properly.
EVEN THOUGH i am getting notifications that they are uploading and
downloading. So, I started downloading them directly from the website
to get them and here is the interesting part: I save downloads to their
proper places and and they turn into .u1conflict files. The original
files won't show up or are ghost files, that I cannot loacte even after
I download them directly turning them into conflict files. (I am still
trying to wrap my head around it)
I started tracking this using `tail -f
~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log` and this is what I got

[Bug 1245751] [NEW] I can't drag and drop application icons anymore in the dock
Public bug reported: I have a huge weird gap in my dock for some reason now. I can't drag and drop or re-arrange the icons anymore on both of my ubuntu computers. The screen is already pretty small on this one, and I need the extra room on my dock so I don't have to scroll a million times to get to the apps I need. I know this is a petty thing to write a bug about, I just find it annoying to have a gap qhere there used to be none, and not be able to fill it. What changed? Dragging and dropping apps and arranging them used to be a breeze in 13.04. I also find it difficult as a novice ubuntu user to change options in the unity dock and dash and scopes all together. it seems there are no options to adjust at all and I am stuck with the messed up state its in. My Home computer won't look up my files and folders at all. I hope there will be more control for the dash and dock in future updates. All very informative guys, thanks. But even using the expando triangle thingy it doesn't show anything. I could only see what it was downloading while it was installing. The thing I like about update manager is that it tells you exactly what it is about to do. I even like watching the terminal while it's updating. It helps me learn more about what is going on in my computer. So when it doesn't tell me what's going on,it's alarming and disappointing. I don't know how it happened or when I will be able to repeat it. Thanks for getting back to me, sorry for the delayed response. I've been working out of town. I can confirm that it was my Hard drive and not Back Up after all. I'll let you know how it works when I get the hard drive back from repairs. I switched my graphics card to this ( http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1417862/ ) and it seems to have solved my problem. I believe that the problem was in that my old Graphics Card didn't have the proper driver (or something like that). Public bug reported: After several re-installs of 12.10 I have gotten this crash several times over. Everything seems to be working fine then it all slows down to a halt, then I hear the log out sound and I get this on my screen (see picture) nothing responds and I am forced to restart. Its been the same 3 or four times completely by surprise. Half the screen is what I was working on, and the other half is a scrambled version of the log in screen. I am starting to suspect its my graphics card (GT218 [GeForce 210]) which has been working fine until 12.10, but I'm not sure. [Bug 1083474] [NEW] Menus and text boxes get super glitchy
Public bug reported: Even while I am typing this the screen is getting so glitchy and only in text related boxes, menus, scroll bars. Its very difficult to read what I am typing. Its been happening quite often and I can only fix it by restarting the computer, but its only a matter of time before it happens again. Don't know what else to do, its been a thorn in my side for quite some time now and I need a fix. I attached a picture of the glitch in progress. Public bug reported: At some point, I don't know when, I was downloading some torrents and transmission decided to start saving all my torrent files inside of a another downloading file Venture Bros, the-season 0, a folder I deleted a while ago, instead of the default downloads folder. I have long since deleted that file and it won't let me change it back. I tried deleting the file over and over again, but everytime transission just recreates the damn file and won't let me select anything else. I want to change it back to its default settings but it won't. Am I doing something wrong? Public bug reported: All of my login information is correct yet I cannot log into facebook. Every time I've tried 1 of 3 things happen. Either I get the spinning loading thing in the chat window where my facebook contacts should be with nothing happening. I get a pop-up saying that my login information is incorrect, although I have triple and quadruple checked everything to be correct. Or I repeatedly get a password required window after every attempt to log in. I could surely use some help on thing issue. Public bug reported: I have been trying everything to get a purchase to go through with my card. I keep getting this error. This is my first time buying something from the software center, I know all the payment information that I am putting in each field is correct, but It keeps telling me this, even before I enter any information Your payment was unsuccessful Your payment could not be processed. Please verify the submitted information. Reason: 3DSECURE There is no reason why this shouldn't work, I even called my bank and they said it was something on the merchant's end. I've never even heard of a 3dsecure before. Apparently 3dsecure has been out since 2009, I've been making online purchases long since then. I talked to my bank and they said that there are foriegn restrictions to some countries outside the USA. They said that the only thing they can think would be the problem is if the Software center purchases are from outside the USA.
