[Bug 1434698] [NEW] Gnome-shell segfault blaming libmutter in vertical screen configuration
Public bug reported: Release 14.10 What Happens: Gnome Shell Segfaults during certain interactions; in this case, creating a new chrome window (Ctrl + n) and moving down to the next workspace (C-A +down). This has happened a few times now since I moved to a 2-up monitor configuration (one above other) with the top as the primary. Not totally sure if that's relevant to the bug though. Also, and most likely a separate bug, the restarted shell resets my keyboard settings from GB to US even while in the gnome-control-centre "Region & Language", no US input source is listed. [Bug 276384] Re: Thinkfinger doesn't unlock keyring
The implication of setting up thinkfinger for login is a combination of security and convenience; for instance, I set up thinkfinger because I have a tablet, and it is convenient for me to leave the tablet in tablet configuration around 80% of the time, not needing the keyboard, but it is decidedly more secure than autologin, which would accomplish the same convenience. As it stands, if people want to maintain the semi-secure convenience of thinkfinger, the suggested solution across the webz is to create an empty keyring password; which is obviously a very bad idea. I believe this is a bug, in that from the user facing side, the keyring manager shouldn't be seen. In an 'Ideal World(tm)', the keyring manager would accept a valid PAM authentication as being satisfactory. However it could be implemented, it would pose an increased security risk, as the access vectors to the keyring are being opened up, so I'd imagine that the only practicable way of doing this would be to have an option in the keyring store (a la the change password window) that states "Allow transparent login with PAM data" or something similar. This would increase the convenience for those thinkfinger users who care primarily about security, increase security for those thinkfinger users who care primarily about convenience, and since it would be an opt-in, would pose no/little risk to non-thinkfinger users. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/276384 Title: Thinkfinger doesn't unlock keyring -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 744844] Re: Application Title Bars refuse to be dragged across unity-panel on vertical dualscreen
No, the unity panel effectively 'hides' the title bar of the maximised window but I can still move the window to the second monitor if going from maximised on the first (depending on how the app manages fullscreen-moving; if it waits for you to finish the 'drag' like chrome, it works fine, but if it instantly unmaximises like terminator, it still gets stuck, but with some fancy mousework can sometimes make it down the 'edge' of the panel) To recreate this issue : arrange monitors in vertical alignment, open terminal window (unmaximised) in 'top' screen Grab title bad Try to drag window by title bar from top to bottom window; The title bar appears to get stuck on the panel, like trying to drag a book through a shelf. The window of the app is fine and sitting pretty 'below the fold' but the title bar is stuck on the first screen being 'blocked' by the panel. Going from bottom to top appears to be fine. Hope that explains things. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/744844 Title: Application Title Bars refuse to be dragged across unity-panel on vertical dualscreen -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 744844] [NEW] Application Title Bars refuse to be dragged across unity-panel on vertical dualscreen
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: unity Pretty much says it all in the title; behaviour is occasionally different for different applications (eg, playing with chrome seems to crash compiz, but thats another bug report) but has been tested with Firefox, Terminator, Terminal and a few other play-applications. [Bug 661450] Re: Support for multiple monitors broken
I can't replicate this exact behaviour on my Lenovo x61, but am having issues related to tabbed windows (such as chrome, terminator, etc) whereby on the 'secondary' monitor (where the unity panel isn't being displayed), they work fine, but on the primary panel (unity panel) the windows are being resized such that the tabs are usually hidden behind the top panel bar. That section is divided into Wired and Wireless troubleshooting, but IPv6 applies to both; also, the reference to IPv6 Not being supported by default, which is no longer the case. I would suggest either making a "General" Troubleshooting section, and moving this IPv6 related doc as well as the Gnome Keyring question under there. [Bug 368962] Re: Can't reboot kvm virtual machines using virsh
Just to add, that concept of 'power down - reset' is apparently what was suggested on the fedora side [1], it just hasnt been implemented. [Bug 368962] Re: Can't reboot kvm virtual machines using virsh
The severity is a matter opinion, but if several users feel it is severe to them, it qualifies as High, as per the provided link. As for 'no portable way...to reboot...', most (if not all) OS's respect ACPI. And, in a similar vein, if you can walk up to a physical machine, most physical machines will gracefully shutdown when the power button is pressed, so I don't see your point #6 -- Can't reboot kvm virtual machines using virsh https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/368962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
