[Bug 1484380] Re: Xorg regular crash on wily

[Bug 1247668] Re: NumLock turned off on layout switch
I also experience this issue after a clean 14.04 installation. Layout keeps switching all the time. It's incredibly annoying and infuriating. My preferred keyboard layout is "US International with dead keys" (or something like that, my environment is currently set to Spanish). I need this keyboard layout for many reasons, the first and most obvious being that my laptop came with a English layout keyboard, not Spanish. Second is that I often need to type áéíóúñõãũ etcetera. Third, I don't want to switch layouts all the time, so "US International with dead keys" is a perfect fit for me. The problem is that I find myself frequently (read: many times a day) messing around with keyboard layout settings because the system keeps forgetting and instead changes to plain English layout and for some very stupid reason, disabling num lock. Also, when this obnoxious unsolicited gratuitous layout switch happens, I no longer can type some characters (quotation marks ("), apostrophes ('), accents ('`)) in applications written in Java/Swing. I can say for sure, but I think one of the things that triggers the switching is suspend/resume cycles. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1247668 Title: NumLock turned off on layout switch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/1247668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 419239] [NEW] plasma-desktop eats all RAM after misclick in "recently used" tab
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kdebase-workspace-bin This is KDE 4.3, Ubuntu Karmic (last update on Wed Aug 26 14:13:40 UTC 2009) This is easily reproducible, in kickoff menu, go to "Recently used" tab, then drag an icon a few pixels then drop it. Plasma will freeze for a while, exploding memory consumption, then exits (OOM killed?). Plasma gets restarted a few seconds after this happened and no crash file is created in /var/crash/ ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- plasma-desktop eats all RAM after misclick in "recently used" tab https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/419239 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 415357] [NEW] [Karmic] Intel Graphics: X crashing consistently crashing when using some applications
Public bug reported: xserver-xorg-video-intel version: 2.8.0-0u xserver-xorg-core version: 1.6.3-1u X crashes when using some applications as Google Earth. The crash is very easy to reproduce, as I noticed recently: 1. Open Kolourpaint (KDE drawing program), and select the pen tool. 2. Start drawing some doodle by pressing the left button of your mouse _without releasing it_ for at least 30 secs (keep the cursor moving). 3. Maybe Andy won't have to do anything at all... > Unfortunately that's simply not true. I'm also running KDE 4.3, and with little effort I can reproduce the problem: $ sha1sum /dev/urandom let it running for at least 2 minutes before hitting CTRL+C. IMHO this has nothing to do with the userland programs (that includes desktop environments) but the kernel. The problem persists even running in single user mode. Recently I tried with a 2.6.27 kernel [http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.27.29/] and the behavior was exactly the same. As I mentioned earlier in other threads, the only workaround that works for me es to suspend to ram and then restore. After that, the problem vanishes and the fan just works. I also tried adjusting the trip points in different ways. Trying to adjust in a running kernel was not possible. For me, the only effective way to adjust trip points was as kernel parameters (eg. thermal.psv=60 thermal.act=45 in the kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst). But adjusting trip point didn't do any effect. -- Ubuntu 9.04 laptop overheat and shutdown https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/370173 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
