[Bug 233942] Re: genisoimage generates wrong DVD-Video images
I'm using Kubuntu 8.04. I burn DVDs with k3b and use remastersys. When installing genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb, windows is able to see DVDs that I have burned but remastersys no longer works. My temp fix. Install genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb when I need to burn DVDs and use them on windows. Install genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu6_i386.deb when I need to create an image of my system using remastersys. I'll try the cdrtools 2.01.01a48 and see if remastersys still works. Info on remastersys: It was initially created to be able to easily backup or create a distributable copy of an Ubuntu or derivative installation. Inspiration for this tool came from the mklivecd script that Mandriva uses and the remasterme script that is in PCLinuxOS. Since those scripts are not very easy to port to Ubuntu, it was written from scratch. It is a very useful and easy way to create a customized Live CD/DVD version of Ubuntu, once the system is installed and configured with programs, updates, etc... the user just has to: 1. Download and install the latest version of Remastersys from: http://remastersys.klikit-linux.com/repository/remastersys/ 2. Open the program (a shortcut is created on the desktop) and then choose the dist or backup option, and then the iso of the Live CD will be automatically created. The resulting iso can also be installed on a USB pendrive, creating a Live USB distro, using either a command-line approach[2] or a graphical tool such as UNetbootin. It has a command line version and a GUI version. It currently works with Ubuntu, and possibly more Ubuntu-based distributions. [Bug 233942] Re: genisoimage generates wrong DVD-Video images
How do I fix my cdrkit? Here's another problem that I have found. installing genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb removes remastersys. when I put remastersys back on using Adept Manager it puts genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu6_i386.deb back on. when I install genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb back on and I check to see if remastersys is installed, I try to run it and it never opens When I run remastersys from the teriminal instead of the program menu I see one of the following errors: "The following packages have unmet dependencies: remastersys: Depends: mkisofs" So, remastersys is one program that's affected when downgrading genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu6_i386.deb to genisoimage_1.1.6-1ubuntu3_i386.deb -- genisoimage generates wrong DVD-Video images https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/233942 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I have a Dell D620 laptop with an Intel 945 video chipset. I turned on the laptop this morning and I got a text login. After logging in it used the root account instead of my account. The video settings were correct when I turned on the laptop this morning. I'm not sure how that happened. The settings that I cut and pasted in the xorg.conf last night from above are gone. I did an exit and logout then logged in as me and set the video to 1280x800. I have no idea what happened overnite. I had to do a dpkg-reconfigure in order to get my gui login back and I told it to use the frame buffer. I'm not sure if that's necessary. Concidently, my original xorg.conf looked kinda similar. Well, I went ahead and took the frame buffer stuff out but I still can't view opengl screensavers. When this happened on my kubuntu desktop with a Nvidia card it was a driver problem. [Bug 241596] [NEW] thunderbird - unable to use wave file for new email message arrival
Public bug reported: I'm not sure if this is a kubuntu bug or mozilla thunderbird bug. Thunderbird version 2.0.0.14 (20080505) Kubuntu 8.04 When I import a wav file to be used for a new email message sound, thunderbird locks up. I've tried two different wave files. I'm able to play these wave files using Amarok so they wave files do work just not when trying to import and play them using Thunderbird. Steps to reproduce error: 1.open thunderbird, edit, preferences, general 2.play a sound, use the following sound file 3. browse, open, play and thunderbird locks up Results: thunderbird locks up every time steps 1-3 are done When sending myself an email to test and see if the sounds works, thunderbird causes the operating system to not respond. I have to right click on the thunderbird program and terminate the session. By the way, I've even tried wave files that are included with kubuntu. I've tried more than one wave file. I always get the same result. I've also tried these wave files that come with kubuntu: kde_startup.wav and kde_logout.wav It also seems like only .wav files are accepted for import into thunderbird. The program doesn't seem to use *.ogg files. Nothing else is using sound when I try to play a sound when new email arrives. Seems like other folks have posted this problem about thunderbird. The default setting is "default system sound for new mail". I'll try telling kde to use a certain sound for thunderbird. I want to use a custom wave file my my incoming thunderbird email. I just wanted to test a wave file that comes with kubuntu to verify that it's not my yabba.wav sound file causing the problem. I have a yabba.wav file (Fred Flintstone) that I used to use with outlook express for windows xp when new mail arrived. I just mentioned kde_startup.zip and kde_logout.zip because every has those wave files if they have kde/kubuntu. This way everyone could see what happens when they try a wave file using my method. I'm back to square one because I want to use my yabba.wav or some other wave file that doesn't come with kde/kubuntu. I tried the kmail option and using my yabba.wav file. I'm modify the execute a path part and put thunderbird email info there and see if that works. Using the kmail option in the kde control panel didnt' work. It looks like the kde control panel is good for wav or ogg files that come with kde/kubuntu and kde/kubuntu apps. If you want this to apply to a third party program, it's harder to get working using the control panel. I tried using my sound file another way and I still don't get sound with an incoming email. I tried the following suggestion per this post and thunderbird still locks up when I get an incoming email. I tried the add-on "mailbox alert". http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-237909.html https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/search?q=mailbox+alert&cat=all ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- thunderbird - unable to use wave file for new email message arrival https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/241596 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
